The card makes all the difference!

A month ago I bought a Turtle Beach X-52 headset and I was disappointed when it was quiet and the sound was kind of flat...

Today I went to Circuit City (going out of business) and found a sound card (Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional) for $80 after taxes. What I've learned is boo hiss to onboard sound! This card uses the whole headset. Incredible bass... makes me wonder how well a HT Omega card would perform.

I'm just so awed at the night and day difference that I wanted to say something about it. I can't believe I haven't bought a sound card before...
 
Yes, most people overlook a sound card in their system, figuring that onboard is all well enough for them. And for some, sure, it is. No point in getting a sound card really if your using 2 speakers/basic headphones, and only watch a couple youtube videos when you're on a wild streak. But for those of us that love music, watch movies, play games, etc on their computer, it should definitely be a requirement to fully utilize your computer. Sound cards do make a lot of difference, they're not just there for show.
 
Even the cheap sound cards, $20-30 are 100x better than onboard sound, and yes, the turtlebeach x-52 headset is awsome :D Takes a little getting used to from a stereo headset, but its worth it.
 
I still have and use the original X-fi Fatality card. I got it just for BF2 because it was one of the few games that utilized the on board ram. Wow did it make a difference. It boost my FPS by 10-15 percent. I like the amplification possibilities it has built in to expand and enrich the sound. I use a z-530 5.1 surround sound and it sounds great. I have my logitech z-5500's on my tv but I can imagine how they would sound on my PC with the sound card.

Good to hear you got a deal at CC. The store near me closes march 15 so im going to go in the last weeks of February to shop. I stopped by recently and finally saw price drops on items. The way liquidation works is pricing everything at MSRP then going down in price as time goes by. I remember going in the first few days and nothing was discounted. People at the store were complaining to the employees who cannot do anything about it. I got upset ant talked back to the customers telling them its already hard enough on the employees losing their jobs and how liquidation works. I never liked circuit cities policies and practices but I didn't like how people thought they should be able to save money because the economy is bad. Hey it is as hard for them as it is for you customers.

But going back to the deals they have the DLINK gaming router we give away at raffles and meetings for 159.99 currently. which is 10 bucks cheaper than newegg. They started selling it at the store full price for 199.99. So give it a week or so and i want to pick it up at 129.99 or so. 1TB WD SATA drive currently 129.99 I want to wait till it goes down to like 80 bucks. Only risk is waiting stuff sells out so when I go back it might be gone :(
 
I love my Auzen Prelude 7.1 X-Fi card. I used to be one of those people that thought onboard sound was "good enough". Now don't get me wrong, with today's mobos, the sound quality is actually pretty decent, but you can definitely tell the difference with a dedicated card.
