Regarding Turtle Beach: I had only heard of Turtle Beach as a maker of sound cards back in the early 90's I think. My impression was that they were supposed to be really good but probably just for professionals at the time. This was back when programs had to be made to support each sound card separately (DOS based programs).
When I started playing Insurgency suddenly I was in the market for a good headset. I tried buying a Logitech one from a local games/video/music/books store and it was HORRIBLE. I took it back and exchanged it for Left4Dead... then I went and ordered a Turtle Beach X1 using the sponsored link through eGO and it is really great. It has held up well, sounds great, the mic works great as far as I can tell, comfortable for a long time. The volume control is great. I just wish it had a bass control because the bass is pretty strong until you get used to it... actually I noticed I have used the RealTek sound manager to adjust the EQ settings of the onboard audio to adjust for it.
