Get on that box in lower B tunnels in Dust2? I try and try to jump and duck with my knife out, but it never works. LoL!

It used to be impossible for me to get up there. I've found that looking up while jumping helps considerably. Get a slight running start, look up, and duck/jump.

Yep, you are very close to a quick fix. Rather than jump=>duck....duck=>jump. Make sure you are against the box before doing this so you land on the edge. Also, don't forget to hold forward while doing this so you catch the edge. Hope you live a happy box-hopping life!

ive been watching other jump from like 10 ft back like its nothing. Makes me angry. lol. Thanks for the tips!

Get enough speed built up....



Jumping at the right time means catching the edge of the box or whatever right at the peak of the arc of your jump.





Well that works for me sometimes.
It's just timing and not having a ton of weight weighing you down obviously.


Take a mental note of where others are jumping and when you try it keep that exact spot where you take-off in mind so next time you can hop up there, no problem.


I like to think my spacebar is pressure sensitive and pressing it REALLLLLY REALLY TOO HARD will help me jump higher.
You just have to believe.

You have to let go of the normal rules that the physical world has and completely disregard the normal laws of physics and believe that you can get on top of that box.

Rules do not apply in the CS:S world.

I have seen some ridiculous things in CS Land.

You really don't need to have a knife out to be able to do it. You just need good timing when ducking/jumping.

it's not so much as building up speed, you just gotta have the crouch-jump timing right.

i can just do it, i dunno how, maybe its from my 1.5 days, who knows. but i guess you have to crouch jump, just like everyone says :/

like they said, it's all in the timing of the jump then crouch, OR you can hit crouch, jump, crouch, they both work. find an empty server and just keep trying it. the boxes in mid are harder to jump on and the 2 high boxes in A are even more diffucult, until you get the hang of it. the ones in A you have to be all the way to the left, do the same juming routine to get to the first ledge, then scoot over just a smidget to the right and do the same jumping routine and whala! You are on top of the world!

the jumping ones that i just cant seem to master is the eves in backyard in office. i can sometimes get to the first eve, but usually don't make it to the tree let alone the next eve and the next eve and then finally the last tree. I have made it all the way a couple times but watch some guys do it almost every single time without fail. i guess it's like anything else, practice practice and more practice.

I prefer crouch->jump->crouch. Works the best for me. Try crouch->jump first, then crouch->jump->crouch. Remember to press W while doing it so you can get onto the edge of the box!
