Steam Account Hack - Watch out for this.

Ok guys... theres a Steam Password Recovery exploit being used by people to gain access to Steam accounts. They will ask you for your steam id on MSN, if you type your steam id into the chat..(providing the msn address your using is associated with steam) they can get your password. So dont ever give your steam id away on msn.

Why would anyone give information to someone that they do not know?

IMO if someone asks you for information and you give it with out asking questions then you deserve what ever happens.

Yeah its like going into a bar and talking bout your credit card info. You just don't do it, it don't matter who it is. What you do is tell them to come to one of our great servers to join you play and have a good time and you will add them to your steam friends.

dont do it period. it = only bad things can happen. if someone asks you for you Social Security Card do u just hand it over lol?

Yeah, but the problem is they are targeting "Friends" which is horrible IMO. They get there MSN, and after a few hellos etc, he asks something like, btw whats your steam ID again? But yeah i agree with you. But sometimes you dont realise what you are doing in a relaxed state.

SteamID's do not work this way if your talking about the STEAM_0 one.

SteamID's are assigned when you log in, and are not tied with any account information..

The Steam IDs as in names.. like the username you log in with to steam.
