Demomans downfall

I think the Valve originally intended the demoman to be a defensive class and are now trying to make it more so. Yes compression blast is annoying but it effects other classes too. I also think valve is trying to find a way to justify a demoman update. The it stood before, the demoman needed nothing to improve on as a class. The latest nerf doesnt bother me too much.

I think we're all forgetting one huge thing here, the scout update is not out yet. We don't know how exactly The Sandman is going to work nor how easy it will be to use.

Just use your ubers wisely and you'll be ok.

Plus, I'm pretty sure the Scout's stun will probably not be that amazing from a close proximity, meaning ubers in close quarters will probably still own.

Well but in that case all they have to do is hit them once, and then back up a bit and just hit them repeatedly since they're not moving. I hate the idea of this weapon...Even though I love scout

I highly doubt that you'll be able to knock off ball after ball after ball. There will likely be a short cooldown time. There really is no way of knowing how the mechanics of the scout will work after the new weapons are released until after they are actually released. Unless you work for Valve of course.

Is this actually fair is the question, demoman has it hard enough with all compression blasting pyro's while ubered, soon also will have to be stunned by the sandman of the scout too. But for the demoman it is more difficult to take out the compressionblasting pyro's since the stickies will do less damage. So the sentryguns are much more safe in some ways.

But my 2nd point is, do you think valve should stop making anti-uber weapons?

Demos just now have falloff damage for stickies used offensively like every other class. Fair enough. I still have no probs as demo and hasn't really affected my play.

Yes, valve should stop this anti-uber crap. Ubers are vulnerable enough against dedicated savvy players who know how to disrupt it with stickies, compression blast, and now a stupid baseball? BTW, I hate scouts :D

Valve did this because of major complaining from the steam forums. A lot of "demo is op' threads. Valve uses there community feedback, which we all are grateful for. So we can't really be mad at Valve for this one.

I'm pretty sure the stats back up the complaints.

Buildings like sentries ignore falloff damage, falloff is only against players. If you shoot a rocket at someone at max distance you'll deal 40-60 damage, if you fire a rocket at max distance and hit a sentry, full pointblank 90-120. Hes still the sentry killer.

Soldier is no sentry killer with the engie repairing, which makes it nigh impossible. A decent team will deal with that soldier long before the sentry dies, and if there is any kind of distance, soldier will be headshot lickity split.

You guys are seem to be assuming that ubers are the only players on the field when deployed.

These anti-uber weapons reinforce teamwork from the offense. A team needs to support the uber. Air Blasting pyro? Get a heavy, soldier, or pyro to assist behind the uber to kill, knock back the pyro.

Im assuming the scout won't be able to hit a ball on the run. Easy target for snipers or soldiers.

Valve is just trying to make players realize that you can't just let an uber loose by itself and expect anything to happen. You need to use more players to support it.

I wounder what happens when a scout shoots a ball max range, pyro lauches it back with compression blast back onto the scout.

Even with an engy healing, 4 rocket hits = sentry down and it doesn't take that long to fire all 4.

Unfortunatly, I will have to poke a hole in your fantasy bag. If the engineer is in the right place, i.e. right where the sentry is between you and him, and it stops the rockets from hurting the engineer itself, he could keep that sentry up as long as he has metal, wich is likely since he will surely have a dispenser, and a level 3 one at that could mean he will be there for a long time. Now, there is some truth in this, as if you can get 2 crits during a complete 4 salvo shot, then it will bring the sentry down. But that is quite unlikley unless you just had a bloodbath (in wich case standing still shooting rockets at a sentry isnt the wisest choice either.)

Crit rockets have no additional effects on sentryguns, unless the critrocket will hit the ground next to the engie and kill the engie, it won't do anything else than a regular rocket.

I'd like to see all these anti-uber abilities.

So far we have compression blast from the Pyro. A soon to be baseball from the Scout.

...what else?

People are actually crying about something that hasn't even been released yet? (Scout Update)

Ubers are fine and demoman is fine. Ubers aren't made to win the game. They're meant to be used with the team. Team Fortress 2. This puts more focus on people rallying around the uber instead of just watchng a demoman and medic go in and clear a whole room by themselves.
