He guys, i have 10 bucks to waste/use and i'm wondering if DoDS is a good gaim to purchase.

1. Are there any good videos/tutorials that can show me some good gameplay/how to play action? I want to know a bit about the game before i buy it :P.

2. Is DoDS as steep a learning curve/skill ceiling as CSS? Or is it more like TF2?

3. IS the DoDS community like CSS or Tf2 (laid back for tf2, competitive for CSS).

4. Any other info that is crucial to know/skills i should have for maximum ownage/fun.

Thanks in advance, cya all later :D.

Well, it all depends how you play your game. Day of defeat does involve skill like CS:S... But its alot easier to kill in DoD. And it does involve teamwork. Just go to youtube and type Day of Defeat: Source and watch the videos. Im not aware if there are demo's, but I know they have free weekend demos every year for it. Eh DoD is competitive, but not as much as CS:S in my opinion. I have played CS:S, Tf2 and by far i always come back to DoD:S. Its gameplay is addicting, tons and tons of maps. Its worth the 10 dollars :D

Alright, thanks. Still open to more posts though.

I find DoD:S a lot easier than CSS, the trick is crouching for rifles because the recoil in DoD is very different and strange, your crosshair moves up (screen jerks up) rather than your bullets going off target (CSS recoil), crouching reduces the amount your screen moves up so you can control the spray easily.

Community wise, DoD:S probably does have the best community out of CSS and TF2 because it attracts the older, mature range of players where CSS attracts a wider range of audience, including mostly kids. Competitive or not, it depends on where you play, I know there are CAL teams and all for DOD but the older players prefer to sit back and play non-competitively.

Learning the game will be challenging at first, it was very difficult for me in the beginning but once i got the hang of it, it was great!

Note: I havent played DoD in 2 months, I'm playing on eGO CSS these days or L4D. I got bored of the game after a long time but i was hooked to it for many months!

DoD:S > All.

There is all kinds of maps for all kinds of play. You can go to the ava streets for more long range sniping type of play or you can come to Flash for some intense close quarter assault. All in all DoD:S = Epic win.

Not many vids to watch but the action can be INTENCE! Specially if you are on a server with the team calling out positions (Mg'S Snipers and such PUBS's Competative boyos yes pubs) can be a major havoc!

OHH no niether. I'm biased on camperstrike as I do not like it. TF2 on the otherhand is fast pased but has a different class base. Learning curve here is like any other FPS LEARN THE MAP POINTS! But you need to learn the wepons and their atributes. DODS compared to 1.2 is VASTALLLY different. PS camping can be supressing re-inforcments. OR! blatantly siting in a corner. Which is why I do not like camperstrike.

Both. We have competative players playing in the CAL and Pubbers just having fun. Please fo not get taken into the "COMPETATIVE VS PUBBERS" crap. You have fun at both. Also this is not the place to get into that.

My main rule when pubing is "HAVE FUN!" don't get boged down with the I need 100 kills to 20 deaths crap. Depending on the class and the map. you could be 30/10. BUT HOW MANY FLAGS DID YOU TAKE?. Ownage' ha! eGO does not stand for EGO.

That is why I like this clan. It's growing fast. :)

Oh tis FRAKIN 10 BUCKS? Splurge.

Ok have you ever fired a real gun. Recoil. The gunpowder explosion pushes the gun back. My sholder hurt after firing my dad's 3030 wrong. Also yes crouching does reduce the recoil.

Yeah man, DoD:S is the game that is easy to get into, but hard to get out of. I have played many other online FPS's, but I always end up coming back to DoD because the community is awesome, and the gameplay is relaxed, yet it isn't run-and-gun.

Think of CS:S except that you respawn within 30 seconds every time that you die and there is a lot more action.

30 seconds? SERiously? That is like......PERFECT! I :3 respawn longer than 20 seconds. Makes death hurt and kills worth it.

I'm going to bug my parents to get me this game, so you'll see a nub with the name "TheZaw" in the DoD:S servers pretty soon.

P.S. Don't get angry at me when im a nub.

Worth $10? Well I got it as a package with CSS and now I don't play CSS anymore. There are player classes so there are many different ways to play. My favorite thing is that there are achievements so there are things I feel like I'm making progress towards and I really like that aspect as an overachiever. The only other game I've played seriously was CSS (and CS before that too to be fair) and the gaming climate is more laid back in DoDS but not too laid back. I will honestly say that on eGO servers the climate seems more relaxed and enjoyable, perhaps because no one is cursing at me or mic spamming. Also the learning curve is somewhat mixed depending on what class you play as assault class is very natural after playing CSS or any similar games but support or sniper may be very difficult. I would start with assault or rifleman and move from there. Just take the dive and have fun!

I have been playing dod since it came out about 8 years ago now and progressed to dods. I play approx 4 hrs a day 7 day a week, is it good? you will have to make up your own mind on that one.

I SURVIVED LONDON BLITZ

dito waffleman!! sometimes you get tired of playing and when you are about to leave the server, you get an awosome headshot(stuff like that) and you whant to keep playing.. Or you think, if i leave now who is going to keep the orange apartment clean! or who is going to wipe out there snipers in the church roof top... srry i start rumbling when i talk about this awosome game!!! you will not regret it! At first you die alot and you get angry but then you learn to crouch and shoot, then you start killing ppl in a row, then it gets fun!!! lol

Ok i bought the game it was really fun you have to get use to like the kickback it really goes up not like CSS it is harder IMO but thous are my 2 cents i have a free guess past if you want it just pm me and i will send it to you
