SPY RAAAAAGEE. "Ode to a Stair Stab."

When they say your backs aginst the wall, what does that mean exactly. I mean a heavy sort of stands at an angle doesn't he? With his back a bit side ways, so a side stab is still possible on him, yes? Or am I just looking to much into it?

That's a good point. Does each class have a specially tailored hit box on their back? Or it is just universal, adjusted to size?

Personally as an avid spy fanatic, I welcome the new challange with open arms and am ready to stair stab as much as possible...this just means that alot of noobs wont be playing spy alot, and if they do, they will fail alot more often.

I don't think isn't any new challenge to playing spy at all. You got a buff to the weapons that you appear to be carrying, you got a buff to your cloak, AND you got a buff to your backstab animation. How often do you stair stab anyways? If anything "alot of noobs" will be playing spy more considering its significantly easier to play now than it used to be.

Stairstabs exist, all the new spies just need to know something.

Delay is Gone, Stop stabbing early because you don't have the buffer zone of delay. You have to physically be behind them now as opposed to right on top of them. If you center is slightly behind their center and you're aiming towards their back, it'll work before you touch the ground.

The only thing thats gone is flickstabs, which hardly happened anyway.

Depends on how you play spy. I relied heavily on flickstabs, it's obvious you didn't. I have pretty much adapted with the update and i like it, the new backstab speed is great.

I'd like to take time and say this: The only two people who I believe can actually stare stab me is Kascade and Deja. Since the ESG is a group of spies for spies, there is no doubt in my mind that someone, somewhere, will eventually figure out how to manipulate the hit boxes and pull off a stair-stab.

I think the increased animations speed makes being a spy MUCH easier. I think that plus the cloak-ammo-regeneration-update, will make it a lot easier for people new to the spy class to use it efficiently.

Definately. Spy was the first class I ever played...wow what a learning curve into TF2 that was, hahaha. I think I played about 15 hours of Spy before switching to another class. The inability to sneak around really threw me off for a while. XD

I'm pretty happy about the update to many a time i've been stabbed in the kidneys and it registering as a backstab, but i could see how this could be bad for a frequent spy player.

The stair-stab generally only worked on noobs anyway. The flick-stab was often very effective, but its quickness and distance defied logic compared with the slowness of a perfectly positioned backstab. Valve just wanted to make it different from TFC. No more stabs against peeps with backs flat against the wall (angled, yes) like heavies and snipers. Avoid the heavy, and for the sniper, take out your revolver. 3 quick shots finishes the sniper anyway.

Piff, i was on convoy and i side stab this scout, i think that sidestab is still there, but you just have to be really good to pull off a leaping stab
