i know it's long, and many people despise reading, but please bare with me and spend five to ten minutes reading this, thank you.
well, i don't want to butt in on other people's problems, but this has just caught onto my attention. I haven't seen any topics about this, so I guess I will post it here.
it has come to my attention, that many eGO members go to school. some are elementary, high school, and also college, myself included. now, what I'm bringing up is that I know we all love to play games and with other eGO members yes? but some of the people I have played with some times cut school and stay home or go to internet cafes to play. now this is where I would like to address my concern.
I understand that playing games is fun, and also contributing to the eGO community is important. but please understand, your education is also very important. it can decide what you do in the future. do not disregard it as an annoyance, it may be annoying now, but as you progress further into your life, you will see why school is important. it is not some place your parents send you to torture you, its for you to learn.
some things i will admit is irrelevant, but the most important thing about it is that you gain experience. some stuff the teachers don't teach you, you will learn from your friends at school. and it is also vice-versa, somethings you just can't learn from your friends, but from your teachers.
your parents also put a lot of trust into you, don't break it just because you want to unlock weapons in tf2, shoot cts in css, or gun down zombies in left 4 dead. games will be there when you come home, they will always be waiting for you. your education and life experience are for you. you decide rather you want to learn or not.
in my book, family comes first, education second, and the eGO community and games come third. you might hate me for saying that, but there are more things that i will put ahead first then clan and games.
please, community members, this is coming from me and I'm sure from others, don't throw away your education just because you want to spend more hours online gunning down people. this only hurts you, and the people around you. I speak from experience and trust me, this road, where you cut classes to play games or hang out with friends, only leads you downhill. I have been there, done it, and almost didn't come out. I was able to get back on track before it got worst, and now I'm going to college. I payed nothing for it, and even getting money from it.
a few hours in school won't kill you, and it will help you in the long run. it's true that some dropouts make it in the world. the ones i know, some are getting through life, most, not so much.
to close off, in high school and now, I talked to people my own age and also younger people about dropping out. some just think dropping out saves them time and think its ok to do it and think they will make it. some will, many won't. when I talk to them, every single one has come up with this counter about dropping out, "well look at Bill Gate's he dropped out of school and look at him. he owns Microsoft." yes, he was a dropout, and yes he owns multimillion, if not billion dollar company. I always end the conversation with this, and I mean always. "remember our talk about Bill Gates? yes he dropped out, and he made it in the world. there is one big difference between you and him. He dropped out of Harvard, you didn't."
don't cut your classes eGO members. a few extra hours of gaming is not worth it. finish the hours, then come home or to the internet cafe to play more. please, education first, eGO and games second. I'm not trying to start a war, but i value education higher then gaming, if that makes me lose my eGO status and look like a bad guy, so be it, i rather lose it then watch members go down the same path I did.
