I'm really late to this thread. I'm glad to see so many who hate Tactics advanced and love Tactics. Soooo good.
I also personally like FF9 and it gave me my favorite character of all the games, Vivi.
FFX is fun but is really easy and the sphere grid gets to a point where you are just abusing it and there is no extra content to enjoy. I am at the point in my save that I am deleting old spheres of stats that are less than +4 and replacing with +4. I need to play 12 but I hope they added a lot more side quests, which was always their negative for me.
And 10-2 was a disaster. The story is just a slap in the face. The battle system is fun, and the final extra boss is extremely difficult, but leaves me sad.

vivi is freakin awseome
There are some fan-made patches that allow for higher-res textures and what not. Plus the music is better on the PC version due to it being in MIDI format as opposed to whatever music format the PSX version runs. That being said, the PC version is extremely rare nowadays, and would run more than the PSX version.
Regardless, if you're looking for a copy, console or PC, I would expect to pay at least $40 for a used copy.

Yeah they're pretty expensive, I wish I bought some more copies back when they were $20 new.

I really hope Square releases at least all their pc versions of their games for Steam. I would be excited. And ports of their newer and older games would be nice. It would let me consolidate my collection.

em they already have, when you buy ff11 you get tetra master with it, for $1 a mont you can play tetra agaisnt people round the world
