Problems with performance

Hello guys, after some people told me that all they heard when i spoke was a lot of static, a washing machine and a helicopter i decided to come and ask you how to solve the problem. My mic model is P-440MV and the brand is PcDomino.

Now, i think the problem is that my computer does not recognize the mic, since every time i look at the devices i have connected with a mic it only shows my laps mic, which seems to be Realtek High Definition Audio.

If anyone knows a way to make my laptop realize i have another mic connected i would appreciate it.

And sorry for my English, its not my mother language.

I have Realtek HD Audio and use a Steelsound mic.
Unless you have some sort of super crappy sound card you should be fine.
Try turning off mic boost for starts if there is a lot of static AND your loud.
Also if you have an Audio Manager program make sure you have the jack with your microphone in it set to Microphone or Headset.

static only means one thing, and that is a loose connection, especially if there's also a high-pitch whistling sound accompanying the static! Check your mic connections

What OS are you running? Reason I am asking is cause in Vista in the sound control panel your default device for the mic input could be on the wrong port. I would also suggest to use a different mic to make sure its the mic and not our computer. If it is a source game you are playing type this in console to hear how you sound like to others in game "voice_loopback 1" To turn it off just type the same command but with a zero.

This wouldn't be the whole problem, but I think the the "helicopter" thing could just be lag.

I started to screw around in control panel and found out that the only recording device i have is the realtek thingy, my computer does not mark if i have the other one plugged in.

Also, how can i check which is my soundcard and how do i know if it is really crappy?

you don't want the recording device, you'll want to find the input device, there's a difference between the two, which i never got, but anyway..
your sound card is the one where the ports of your mic and speakers go in are attached, it should be pretty obvious once you open the computer case. Though if you don't have any sound drivers and are using realtek, i'm lead to believe that you actually don't have a soundcard and have on-board sound!

well, do you remember having installed one? cause unless you bought a gaming or media-oriented pc or building one yourself, there's very slight chances that a sound card was put there. It's not difficult to open your computer, takes about 5 minutes, and it's the only way to make sure!

lOl, have the same problem. Mic was working until I downloaded vent. Friend told me to uninstall and reinstall sound drivers, but still didn't work. have no clue. If anybody has answers...

I dont want to open my laptop, im afraid it will ruin the waranty. I guess ill stick to the helicopter and washing machine and if someone doe snot like it they can mute me.

I got another problem not related to my mic, my computer lags really badly on tf2 whenever theres tons of explosions or people in the screen. (i know theres tons of stuff that can make you lag, but i think its cuz of my video card)

If anyone could help me with this i would appreciate it.

ok then, how's about telling the guys you bought the laptop from to give you a hand? i mean that's one hell of a defect, i'm sure it's covered by your warranty!

is it just on tf2, or in general? if it's just in tf2, then it's highly doubtful if the GPU is to blame, unless you don't have any other demanding games. If it's a general thing, you might want to start sifting through other threads on faulty GPUs, cz it could be anything from a faulty fan to a burnt-out diode, or something as simple as updating drivers!!

Well darkos the problem is im in mexico and i bought it in mcAllen, and i dont get to go 2 often.

And about the lag, i only have tf2. I used to have insurgency and eternal silence, and they lagged to . But everything else runs fine, so maybe ill go look at those other threads.
