I just wanted to add a little post here and say hello to everyone and give a little background since I just joined. My stats are low, that's a given lol, but there are many of you I'm sure that don't know, this is the first FPS I've ever played. Yup never been at it before. My husband is =(e)=?waffleman and he's been playing for a little while now and I started out by watching him play sitting in a chair next to him, it looked like so much fun and I enjoyed watching it so much I decided it would be fun to play. So I signed myself up on steam and all and hopped on with him and we played with just each other on the server till I started to get the hang of it. Then I started following him and playing with everyone else. I'm getting better at it the more I play and the more I play the more I want to play lol. We can usually be found on opposing teams from each other so as to have the ability to take each other out lol. It makes for fun conversation later. So far though it's mostly him killing me. I'll get there I'm sure but I have to say from having played a few times on other servers eGO servers are a lot cleaner and nicer. I had to deal with some pretty filthy mouths at first but I'm glad I came to eGO. Though I don't know if I'd ever have heard the end of it from waffle if I hadn't lol.

I am curious though does anyone have any advice for someone who is really just starting out. Some of you on here, a lot of you actually are some of the top DODer's so I'd really love to hear input.

ha Welcome! dont worry about it! it seems you are never going to get better, but trust me you do! give it time, (1 month of constant gameplay!) idk...
 
Welcome BLT, when I first started I had played other fps and strategy games and it takes getting used to kick or spray of each weapon, the best situations and spots for each and of course finding the gun and side u like the best , so the only real thing u can do is play, play and play til u find your groove. When i first started i HATED dod but now no matter what new game comes out Im always drawn back. Just as long as its fun, dont worry about the stats unless thats what makes it fun for you.

btw...my wife plays as well but in a different *cough* clan*cough* and she likes the social aspect of it but here gameplay has risen with her time in game and she is actually pretty good, dont tell her i said that though.
 
Practice, Practice, Practice. The three P's of online gaming are essential for new players. People sometimes dont understand that you just dont get good over night. You need to experience the game play, become familiar with the controls and surroundings within the game and you must push beyond the limits of what you learned. Other then that, simple advice for a beginner, randomly aim and shoot at stuff, you will get kills, have fun, and dont get mad when ya die. sometimes the deaths can be the funniest thing on this game, considering the RAG DOLL effects of the bodies. Socializing is also a key, the more people you know, the funner the game will be because you will have friends to play with and mess around with.

i agree, find your groove and youll enjoy it. its addictive but can also be frustrating at times. practice makes perfect. find your favorite map, gun, and tactic then youll eventually get the hang of it. but dont be afraid to variate. :)
 
Wow guys that is ALOT of replies! Thanks lol, Quaffer thanks for those guides I'm def going to read up on that stuff. I have been trying my best to practice and as of today I was up to 1 kill for every 10 deaths. That made me proud.

As for everyone else thank you so much for the support and tips and I will do my best to keep pushing, anymore advice is certainly welcome and I appreciate all the replies.

oh come on diamond!! she is welcome everywhere!!..lol.. Try to play Flash its the best server we got!!!
 
just choose the weopon you think you would like and keep useing. sooner or later you'll get it and move on the the next weopon. get to know the maps and weopons and in time you'll do just fine. and one more thing. don't worry about your stats right now. just play the game and enjoy yourself. that was my problem at first, i watch and worrried about my stats instead of playing the game. so welcome and enjoy the game
 
Hi and Welcome Toaster, I think I have played a few games with you before. I have a tip that might help but I will not post it here because NON eGO's can see it :)

Hope to kill you and Waffles soon, and great to see families getting into the same game as well as =eGO= you did a smart move.
