Video gaming and laptops?

Hey guys, well recently being spring break and all; I decided to take a little trip. With that all and all I couldnt leave the ego servers. Anyway playing counter strike source with my laptop has been a little difficult. I had an intel media graphics accelerator x3100. When I first bought it they said it had 318 megas of video memory. Upon reading the small letters it was shared memory. Ah epic fail.... So trying to play cs source with it is like trying to play golf with a hockey stick. Anyone have any similar experiences or any preferred settings when playing with such a low powered video card?

make the resolution lower and some computers you can change how much memory gos to the video card. (Higher memory in video card better)

You feel my pain. I play with a laptop that came from 2002. 2002! can you believe that?! Well I just don't use any other applications while playing and use the recommended settings that they give me.

just lower ure video settings to the lesat possible...i got a toshiba 15.4 widescreen laptop with 3 gigs of ram, and i got a intergrated video card in mines...source runs fine! =) heheheh!

I found a couple of web sites there after doing a Google search.

for my old laptop.

It's a Dell e1505, ati x1400 vid card, 2 gigs ram, 1200x800 resolution. on low settings i got about 30-60 fps. I dunno what your laptop is, but hopefully you can compare your laptop to mine and get something meaningful out of it.

I still got bad fps in iceworld deathmatch and during packed firefights on any map.

Also make sure your drivers are updated.

With my Dell I had cooling problems (fps was good but after 15 minutes of playing it would drop to 15-20) so I bought a cooling pad from newegg.

is the best cooling pad i found after a lot of research. It really kept my laptop cool and kept my framerates up. Also make sure your laptop is clean (lots of dust can build up in the fans/vents).

I got sick of having crappy framerates (in other games too, I wanted to play Crysis! and COD4! and every other new game) so I gave in and bought a gateway p-7805u FX. best bargain gaming laptop out there (theres even cheaper older versions with similar specs).
