I was having a conversation with Hammer about the different configurations that you can set on your weapon in order to get the best performance when you are gaming. I personally like the burst config, it is a quick 'burst' of 3 shots that could account for anyone's lack of aim, if you shoot in their general direction, you'll probably hit or kill them. It also helps the person save ammo compared to the fully automatic rifles in the game. So from what i've experienced the burst fire config for the M16 rifle is one of the best to use in the game. I have never fired a burst rifle, but i've seen one, it's pretty accurate.

What about everyone else?

Here is burst fire:

my favo's is the m4 aimpoint and I only use full auto inside buildings or just close combat, single shot when i need to shoot from greater distances, i hate the burst on the M16 though i prefer single shot on all other weapons

AY i like the M4 with the dot sight on it, it is really accurate, im just not a fan of the full auto. Wish it had burst fire.

It does. Hold down the button for 3 shots. Thats how its done in the field.

A full auto is almost ALWAYS used that way.

The true reason that the American standard infantry rifle was purchased with a burst mode is
Accuracy and Economy. The bean counters showed that in vietnam, G.I.'s expended approximately 10,000 rounds of ammunition PER KILL. According to U.S. Military doctrine is that
the SAW is there to provide sustained automatic fire for use as a suppression and base of fire
weapon that removes the need for the general infantryman to carry an additional automatic
weapon. Today's American infantry by default fire their weapons on semi-auto mode unless in
dense, close in combat. That is the way they are trained, that is the way they are ordered in
the field.

Only since the recent engagements have a number of infantry rifles returned to automatic fire
and those are for specific uses. Non-infantry support personnel will not have thes additional
automatic weapons, but carry the M249 or M240 in an assortment of configurations.

I myself prefer full auto. It is the most versatile setting. With a sharp trigger finger you can make it do anything you want. I can fire out quick singles, 3-shot bursts, or full auto sprays all on command. However, my personal favorite is double shot bursts. With the AKS-74u and the M4 IS, their firing rate is just high enough that the second shot lands about 2 inches higher than the first at range, making it the perfect anti-sniper/window camper weapon.

I prefer Auto in game. I can then send down as many rounds as needed, even if it is mostly just 3-5 rounds.

What i like about the auto is you can just run around a just shoot it up, you'll eventually hit something aha

I personally like full auto the best. Just a big diagonal line will kill anything in the room. I also hate the burst because most of my aiming problems are left to right not up and down. So the burst makes me much less accurate as I always manage to time it just right so that the bullets go on either side of the target and I just die. If I use an M16 I set it on semi-auto.

I like things that go boom, would be pretty cool if they had a weapon that shots grenades around like an automatic rifle:)

Hmmm, ill look it i may know what you are talking about, Law Enforcement uses it to shot tear gas into crowds and other things.

I don't know about automatic grenade launchers, but I do know that someone has come up with the brilliant idea of an automatic shotgun. They've got stuff on youtube about it and it looks like a ridiculous tommy gun. It's crazy.

If I remember correctly, that is the XM 139. Hurls M209's like nobody's business. Never really took off though. You only get 6 shots and it takes forever to reload.

Shotgun trauma at close range is the same as putting someone's body through a meat grinder, just tears apart the tissue, so at close range it is generally lethal.
