How not to play the spy!

That's pretty awesome. I feel like that when trying to kill madhatter190 and Goretex on Blackmesa, and never being able to get a backstab.

Since your playing on IR 2fort you probably don't give two skin cells about my advice, but here i go anyways:
Vanilla respawn times, 24 slot stock maps, or huge custom maps.

K? And not 2fort :P

Good pics though.

Dont bother, everytime im about to dominate madhatter he spectates and then rejoins (or just leaves)*LAME*!!!

One of the best maps to learn spy? TURBINE. It's where I learned.

Now, I ain't no Zaw or Frisky Dingo, but I can hold my own when we need a bit of spy action. And I learned it all on TURBINE.

Why do I love Turbine for learning spy? ROUTES. There's plenty of routes for a spy to take. There's two hallways to intel, three routes through the vent shafts, and the enemy team is usually pushing through one route (crooked hallway, rolling door, vents), leaving the other two a bit more open to spy work.

And now that enemy dispensers refill your cloak, you can get from your rolling door to the intel room without dropping cloak just by dispenser hopping, usually.

2FORT is horrible for learning spy. All the hallways are narrow, so if a team is rushing through where you are, you're toast. All the good "pause and recharge" spots are known and checked. Actual viable routes are hard to make it through. Not to say it's impossible, but it's a pain to learn there.

lol keep trying, be smart about where you look, and what you do. try to act like your on their team. Like if your in hay room standing right next to the spawn door, its obvious your a spy. and if you are standing on sniper tower, backstab snipers, and drop down so they dont kill ya when they spawn.

Yesterday I was trying to get the entire enemy team to dominate me. I got up to 9 dominations before people left. When I gave up my k/d ratio was like 13/114. It was epic.

Thanks =[Ga]= AutoDMC, your advice really helps. I will probably go play on a Turbine map to learn. Oh and for the record I wasn't actually doing THAT bad, it just got to the point after i got dominated 2 times i just ran in and suicided =P

IMHO the best map for spies is any payload map, especially badwater. When people are pushing the cart it is so easy to string together like 5-6 basckstabs in a row. Especially if they are being shot at from the front. Badlands is especially good because of all of the different ways to go, including the places where you can get a height advantage.

Don't feel bad dude...I fail it big time as spy....Just can't get the hang of it..Keep trying though..its all in good fun in the end :D

That cracked me up :thumbup1:

I think I would put my fist through the monitor before I got anywhere near that kpd ratio.

Yeah, 2fort IR is really hard if your just learning how to spy, plus when we were facing them they had some pretty nice defense up. I play way to much 2fort and anticipate things, plus you gotta use a lot more short cuts, on that one it looked like you were running through the middle of the bridge BAD IDEA. Just hop on the little edges and you can get behind them and either take out all the guys on the bridge or move into the base.

Payload maps are one of the easiest and possibly best spy maps for begginers, try badwater you should rack up ton of backstabs there...just make sure to flank the enemy, stab 2or3 and get out of there if u think you have been discovered, then go back in for more. Its pretty easy once you get the hang of it, just stay calm and if you miss a back stab dont push for it, just cloak and escape...after a while of practice you will see you chain back stabs grow...so far I have 17 backstabs in a row...I know people who have over 20 in a row, so it is possible it just takes alot of practice and alot of patients and determination. If this still doesnt work, ask the zaw to help you...im sure hes a better trainer than I will ever be.
