Yep. I got bored last night and decided to play some DoD after reading the thread about Artimus and TF2. I have to say i'm impressed with the community in our servers for DoD. I had an incredible time and ended up playing from like 1am to 7:30 am... I can definitely say you'll be seeing me a lot more around there.

Can't tell you what map, as almost all of them (one of the i couldn't stand) were amazing. I spent most of my time on Kalt though. Great group of players and I really enjoyed how the team winning changes so often. Its a big change coming from TF2, and a nice one at that!

So with that said, I ended up having a score on my last game of like 120 - 128, I'd really like to improve to look more like my TF2 scores, so with that said, does anyone have any tips they'd like to give me? I play pretty much all of the classes except for MG and Bazooka.

Hope to see you guys soon! (as soon as the power in my apartment complex gets fixed...)

Just one tip, I played a game of dod about 8 years ago and haven't stop since, about 4hours a day 7days a week, my tip is make sure your wife/gf understands, it can be very addictive, Oh one more tip, enjoy the game.

I SURVIVED LONDON BLITZ

I'm pretty sure we took turns dominating each other last night :D

and thanks, that is indeed a good tip, always gotta keep that in mind.

lol my gf gets mad at me all the time be like pay attention to me lol. so make sure rub there back and they will let you do anything you want long as you do that. :) atleast my gf does hehe

BL4SPH3MY's "gf" .... rightttttt ... haha jk man ... 1 tip for a beginning DoD player IMO would be to try and play with the same weapon a decent amount of the time ... either u like it or hate it and then you can move on to deciding whether or not u wanna get good with it (and play with it constantly) or change to something else based upon that :)

appreciate the tip. I found that assault is great for me on some maps, while rifleman is more to my taste on others. And depending on situation, the support weapons are of great use to me. Overall i'm liking the thompson/mp40 the most. The Kar is a close second though, I have some real fun sniping as a regular rifleman. I probably spent about 5 hours with the MP40 last night though. Great fun!

The only tip i would give right away is to get used to switching from your primary weapon to your pistol asap. A lot of times you will run out of ammo in a bad place or you will be running around with a slow firing weapon and have an assault or support come at you. The pistol is a life saver and it fires as fast as you can click, so with practice you can fire faster than the supports can.

ahh the mp40 <333 I think i have to say that's my favorite weapon so far, glad you're enjoying DoD, it's quite addictive is it not? lol. That mp40 is great though. I like it better than the thompson.

hope 2 play aginst you sometime! dont get owned to bad there are some really good dods players

for 2 years ago i buyed counter strike source and i try day of defeat source the same day and i think is was pretty cool but now i dont like css i have not playing source in over a year now i only play day of defeat source :)

see you on the servers guys :D take care man.

BL4SPH3MY's "gf" .... rightttttt ... haha jk man ...

and what is this supposed to actually mean? lol.

and tommy gun is the best gun but i do like the STG44 tho :)
and you did good sniping yesterday bro dominated me like 3 times lol. XD

A few tips for the MP40 and Thompson. Always keep on the move, you have a high rate of fire but low accuracy. If you facedown a rifleman or sniper from a long distance you don't stand a chance so try to move around in erratic patterns to close the distance because at short range they'll have more trouble hitting you. Even at close distance try to keep moving crouching can still be effective, but I've found it's more effective to side strafe in front of your target back and forth because a moving target is harder to hit and, once again, you have lower accuracy than most of the other guns.

keeping with the constantly moving theme I've found it effective to charge down your opponent especially when they hesitate. If they backtrack a little and try to hide around a corner sprint forward and pop around the corner firing where you expect them to be. People seem to expect you to keep your distance after an encounter firing at medium to long range so I've caught many by surprise by rushing them.

Same thing goes with grenades. When someone tosses a grenade at you they expect you to run away if you can, but if you run towards them while they're waiting for the grenade to go off it often catches them by surprise.

I see you mentioned liking Kalt which is my favorite map. Assault class MP40/Thompson is very effective in the sewers because it's close combat which what the class is for so it can be a good idea to stick there when you're playing assault. If your team doesn't control the bridge and you're playing assault try to make your way through the sewers and come up one of the enemy team's ladders. Then make your way up the street towards the bridge flanking the enemy team and hopefully catching them by surprise. You would be surprised how often this works and you'll find you often clear the whole bridge or at least take out the MGs and snipers paving the way for the rest of your team to capture the bridge.

you can "ctrl" when you shoot! gives less recoil! and always watch for granades, when you see one around your area "shift" and get the hell out of there, also try to sneak! for ex. if there is a house where you and the other team are always confronting each other! You might whan to lay down next to door and kill any body that goes!! lol.. great way to get many kills in a row!

Hey, thanks for all the tips guys. I've had a lot of fun the past 3 nights. I actually ended up not sleeping last night and playing pretty much all night. I have a pretty good handle on the game now and i've really taken a liking to the sniper rifle, it seems the most natural next to the TF2 sniper, but I have like 200 hours on that class so tf2 sniper can't really count...

Anyway, thanks for all the tips, i've seen many of you in game and dominated or been dominated by you. You'll be seeing a lot of me in the game from now on, it's my new addiction, while TF2 is still my favorite, I have to say this is a really, really close second. You can generally find me on Avalanche and if i'm not there i'm probably in Kalt. Hit me up sometime in game, and everyone is always welcome to add my steam to their friends.
