That's cool to have in case anyone needs any tf2 help, favorited :D.
Thanks for the share.

Yep, hitboxes always stay as spy hitboxes, no matter what they're disguised as.

Can really get on your nerves when you think you've headshotted a spy, but you hit them in the chest or something. :P

:P thanks Voided

This was so eye opening, now I know to aim anywhere but head if I suspect someone being a spy!

Just do like i do. Im almost always medic and run around sawing EVERYONE. Healing is for whimps. Besides as soon as i stop sawing and start to heal, someone like Quantum backstabs me...

Oh, man! That is quite helpful. Thanks for the info. Time to log on and get used to correcting for this.

I've been reading and viewing guides lately that encourage the use of friendly disguises for spies to conserve cloak and keep the enemy oblivious to the fact that there's a spy around. Compare the head hitbox of the spy specifically to the heavy, demo, and soldier, the higher HP classes. Against a sniper, who will probably be aiming for the head against these classes, you could really have an advantage. The head hitboxes don't seem to overlap at all from the spy to any of those classes he could disguise as, meaning a sniper could line up a perfect headshot, fire, and just be like "Oh dang lag or bug or <insert disguise class here>'s hitboxes are all messed up" or something...it's happened to me as sniper, and never once have I gone "Oh I bet he's a spy."

It won't save you from non-sniper classes so much, though if you go as pyro, you should scare away scouts, spies, single medics, maybe even soldiers or demos who think you'll compression blast their weapons.

Summary: I'm going to try using friendly disguises more both to conserve on cloak and further deceive the enemy.

If it wasn't for sentries, I wouldn't even bother with disguises. The only chance a spy has of catching people unawares is by not being seen AT ALL. Still, the height difference between a spy and engineer is certainly pronounced. It would seem that the spy was made pretty tall as a conscious decision -- headshotting a disguised spy would produce a bodyshot instead of a true headshot, if I'm interpreting those pics right.

This is good to know, and based on my limited understanding of aimbots, could maybe shed some light on nailing the cheaters who use them if they happen to land a headshot on a disguised spy by shooting at their true "head" box when it isn't actually displayed?

Wow. No wonder it's so hard to headshot disguised spies. I had no idea.

:o I disagree wholeheartedly. While unabashed spy checking is terrible at times (especially in small maps and with lots of pyros), it is very possible to blend. However, your one good shot at doing it is when the enemy is distracted by your team. When you've got a a HWG staring you down spinning up his gun, and a guy at your side that could be a spy, which are you really thinking about?

The likelihood of a disguise protecting you all by itself is never good, but it's not zero, not by a longshot.
