There is a hideous virus going around: (W32.Virut). Symantic (Norton) and McAfee have no solutions for it. I had Norton running when I got it!. Norton has a stand-alone application that works on it (fixvirut.exe). But it didn't fix anything except waste 8 hours of my time.

This virus is incideous and rapidly spreading!!!! About 1 second before I reformatted my drives, I came upon this post:

If you look near the bottom, the poster "Try this removal method, WORKED FOR ME" has a solution. He refers to Dr. Web CureIt Scanner - hxxp://www.freedrweb.com/.

Well, all I did was run it from safe mode, and after 12 hours, VOILA!! BTW, it must be run from safe mode. The virus will be in your memory. If you get it, I hope you remember this post!!!!!

Thanks for letting us know! I've also done a good bit of testing the with free Dr. Web bootable CD. I think this is actually a very good virus removal tool. There's another user that swears by it in my Malware removal post at the top. As I promised them, I would test it. There are quite a number of viruses that I've been able to find that were not successfully removed, however that utility in tandum with the other utilities I recommended worked very very well. I will update my Malware post with the details of this controlled test environment and let others decide if they want to use it. I give FreeDrWeb a B+ overall :)
