New Interdivisional Scrim Ideas

Here's a new idea brought about and inspired by First Timer. We hear you
when you speak up about not getting into the scrim versus the CS:S group.
The leadership has polished First Timer's idea a bit and here is what we are going to be doing.

1. We will be holding regular scrims between divisions which are based upon
eGO rank. i.e. e's vs e's, eG's vs eG's etc.

2. These scrims will be conducted with 30 players each from two divisions.

3. These sessions will be run by rotation whereas each group of 15 players from either division will play a round as each side, then the second group of
15 players will cycle in to game play, repeating what the previous 15 players did.

4. Each scrim session will consist of FIVE (5) rotations. Equaling a total of
TEN (10) rounds.

5. These scrims will be scheduled for Saturdays at mid-day and afternoon to
facilitate maximum participation.

6. Other divisions that wish to scrim against the INS team will need to request,
through their leadership, that an inter-divisional scrim be scheduled.

Any valid questions pertaining to the above elements may be posted here but
please keep the conversation on track and relevant.

I'd like to take a shot at the DODS Division, that game is exceptionally easier to play. They might get a big surprise when they play us on the INS Servers.

Great idea! I was just thinking something similar. Also, as far as turnout, this scrim was a great idea and it's nice idea to play games from each others' divisions so we don't become so isolated from each other. Sounds like some of the CS:S players actually liked playing INS too.

Awesome idea - one suggestion. On occasion let's mix the times up - do an evening or night scrim for those who can't do days. If people are signing up in advance it shouldn't be too hard to make sure we fill the servers.

Last nights scrim was during the night and had too many people, i think the time should just be put in a poll at the beginning of each week and see what time for that scrim is best for everyone.

Can we still have say... 1 scrim per month which has every rank involved? It would be nice to
be able to play alongside admins, and the leadership, while pwning their admins and leadership :)

Other than that i don't mind as long as i get to play :)

do we have like a scrim team? i think a scrim team consisting of the best people. we could have try outs and everything

Right now we're in the process of developing a training scrim team, Igo.

Swat, I like the idea but it seems like a very long event. Assuming a 10 minute round that's almost two hours. Also, I don't really like the idea of a rotation, personally. I would rather just have two separate events.

That would be nice, but what about the people who just want to play to have a good time? because that's what these scrims are for (well.. it was implied that that's what they were for) just to have a good time with other members of eGO.

My 2?

I believe the scrim team we have set up isn't for the scrim events we already have set up. It's for particular competitions of 5v5 or whatever the numbers. That training scrim team isn't intended for the e vs eG etc. scrims. It's supposed to be the INS version of CAL.

Although, I could be wrong since I'm not the one developing that.

My input on that specific note would be that if they wish to play at all hours, just
get into the servers. They are there and operational 24/7.

On another suggestion. We are developing a divisional scrim team that will be for competition OUTSIDE of eGO. The current focus has been on scrimmages that
take place here and when we think we will have a good turnout. Our turnout for
last nights scrim was by far more than we had expected. We had difficulties
running the scrim with how the game is currently setup and using 3rd party maps. This added to everyone's frustration in game as well as the lobby.

does this mean we are expected to "road trip" to other divisions servers also? Its customary in the scrim world that if CSS gets the crap beat out of them on INS servers that the INS people then go to CSS servers for a rematch.

The only other issue i didnt see addressed and is likely going to be the one that comes up most.

What happens when team 1 doesn't field enough players. Does team 2 drop players to have an even XvX number? Is there a minimum number of players to consider a team playable (is it 5 is it 10, 15?)

Previous scrims ive participated in usually ran on a point system. for instance 2 points for a win before overtime, 1 point for win in overtime. You fail to field enough players (for your team, ie eG's or CSS members etc) but can get subs to fill the required number of player spots = -1 point for your team. (usually with a caviot that you cant have more subs than real team members) so if you win before overtime you still get a point. win over all = 0 points which is better than taking a loss due to the fact you didnt have enough players to begin with.
A point system also rewards a win within the first 1 min (a real beat down) vs a win after a long fought battle were it came down to the last few seconds of who may or may not cap that last point in time etc.
At the end of the scrim rounds (lasting over weeks) who ever has the highest number of points win.

Wow! What allot of input you guys have!

Answer to these questions and more will develop as the scrim schedule develops. Look for more interdivisional scrims, road trips, and events as they posted this week!

I think this is a great melting pot it looks like good ideas are coming out. Especially matching out e's vs e's; eg's vs eg's etc.
