Cooking a grenade, hazards and benefits!

Yea, 1-4 are your default quick switch keys. But i have my mouse wheel up as my main weapon and mouse wheel down as my pistol, a lot easier than scrambling to hit the 2 key when you hear that !click sound and getting shot at.

Oh yeah that sounds a whole lot better... Wow thanks Caffeine I'm going to go bind those! :w00t::laugh:

Umm...:mellow: I don't think you can run/sprint once you pull the pin, to cook or to just throw... cause I have tried holding shift once I pulled the pin from a nade and I just walk :(
Oh and that map is called Almaden... Where A's cap point is by a Humvee?
B's cap point is on a balcony, then C and D are in this big area kind of close to each other?

That's exactly it. I love A there, it's so easy to hold!

I think the worst place to cook a grenade is while running in spawn and trying to kill a spawn killing, ahah brings to mind the saying "running with scissors"

Lol I have done that only it was with a pencil and I ran into something so the pencil shanked me in the side... :(

Yeah I don't know what I was talking about myself... I think it was comparing your comment "running with scissors" to my in life experience when I was a wee little lad.:glare::bored::closedeyes: Yeah... a little off topic, I just noticed that....

Even if the grenade doesn't kill, it still suppresses the enemy which is great for clearing rooms, making the enemy take cover.

Yeah some what there are some that forget multiple grenades are probably still live and run in there like a lunatic...

I've actually said over the mic" There's a grenade in there." Did they listen? Nope. Ran in there guns 'a blazin' and got blown away.

I never really used to 'cook' nades prior to reading this post. But since then I've tried it a few times and... WOW! It makes for some interesting play. I never used to throw a nade and get 3 or 4 kills. This rocks!

And yeah, cooking a nade gets alot of kills. I thought it just reduces explode time, but it must have more explosive power too!!!

It doesn't really have more damage, the main thing is just that when you throw a nade without cooking it, it gives your opponents WAY too long to react. When you time a nade to explode the second it lands, you're guaranteed the kills because there's no way anyone could get out of the way.

I have realized, though, if you cook a grenade it CAN explode in mid-air. So for those really long shots where you're just trying to slow movement (i.e. buhriz alpha as marines chucking a nade to the other side of the bridge) it can be better to not cook. However, having a nade explode in somebody's face or right over their head must make you feel really accomplished :P.

Yup Yup... I don't cook the nade if its a distance throw, now when its a room thats a different story, out of ammo... not a problem suicide grenading always fun.

True. Plenty of times I've seen a nade land nearby and been able to move before it goes off - or get behind cover like sandbags, a wall, or a less experienced player

I wish I would have demo'd this.

I was on almaden, and this support guy was about to run out of the mosque, and I was cookin a nade to toss in. Well I throw it from relatively far away, and the second this guy pops out it explodes in the air, right in his face, no kidding. It was awesome, and yes, it felt GOOD!

I like showing myself to the enemy and acting like I ran out of ammo. I run around a corner "in retreat" and cook a grenade. Happy easter to whoever finds that egg.

hmm.. someone has the same tactic as you, because that happened to me. I ran around the corner cause he was firing at me and I clearly heard the *click* *click*
then he runs around a corner, I follow but by the time I get to him he has already got a nade out cooked it just a little bit but enough to get me after I killed him...:O:sleep::crying::angry::sneaky2:

The one strategy used by the Insurgents when capturing B in Dust2, is to spam nades over the Marine Spawn facing double doors, which is legal and cheap.:(
