ok so im getting some cash hear soon and im gunna build me a new computer ive done all my research and i THINK i put a good computer together but input/help/ideas from others is ALWAYS good to get b4 some one buys stuff SO hear we go

ok i already got a case/HD/CD-DVD drive/Vidcard so thats why they not added and the totel comes out to 571.96 cnd my other option was spend 6$ more and i could get a 4gb DDR2 system but ddr3 would be better and it would future proof my self if i am not correct and this mobo is AM3 rdy so its would this all be a good build or should i change stuff and thanks guys/gals

ddr3 wont do any good really 7 ms diff between ddr2 and ddr3.
550 watts is kinda meek...
 
you must not forget that this is in Canadian dollars not US so that mobo is only 138 aprx and i SAVE money by going ddr3.... strange eh? and 550watts holds me tell i get a job it only has to run one vid card and nothing big but my main question is this. Dose it all work fine together and will it future proof my self for a few years to come. to if i lived in the states this would only be a 450$ build but in Canada its a 575$ build
 
What is your video card at the moment? Also, how many hard drives? 550W is rather small and your CPU uses up 125W out of it. Thats about 22% of your power right there. Video cards run on a whole lot more power too. Between 200-500W or more depending on how powerful it is.

Also, power supplies advertise X amount of watts, but thats at 100% efficiency and most PSU's run at 80-85% efficiency. This particular one runs at about 70% efficiency under normal conditions.

So. 70% of 550W = 385W that you can actually use. Now take that 125W CPU and put it on a 385W supply and that's now about 32.5% of your available power.

So, you might want to either invest in higher efficiency, or higher wattage. Personally I would go with atleast an 80% efficiency or higher. No point in revving those electrical bills higher than they need to be and its possible to do this build with a 550W... but not at 70%.

I think a 600-650 watt will hold you over otherwise everything looks good
 
#1 newegg.ca :D #2 i uses a PSU calculator and at full load (100%) all the stuff would only take 450 watts #3 the site im looking at is only 7$ shipping to me not the 20$ from new egg and the 60$+ for tax's :\ so its cheeper to get from the site im looking at lolz #3 the 450 watt i got right now is CRAP its a no name brand and i dont know what its rated for efficiency #4 thanks guys for your input so far
 
The PSU is fine, although quality wise maybe try investing a few more pennies into a Corsair 520 or an OCZ (Which is PC Power & Cooling)

Mobo, CPU, Ram all look good, i just am kinda wary of a coolermaster PSU :/
 
his PSU is fine, cooler master sources PSU's from a decent place although a little more reputable source would be nice, FSP Group/Antec/PC Power and Cooling.

2nd question, why AMD? Intel's Core2Duo's/Core2Quad still lead in performance areas for the most part.

Also the 4870 runs very hot, i wouldnt get one, get a 9800GT/GTX or something similar, yes your power requirements should be fine, i run a PEE 995 (intel extreme edition, uses 185w idle), 4 HDD's, a 9800GTX, 5 fans, 1 dvd/cd drive, all on an Antec NeoHE 430w powersupply.

The P2's are cheaper, and for the most part, comparable in performance to the i7s.

It also doesn't matter if the 4870's 'hotter'. So long as everything's stable, the temps are of little to no concern.

yeah, thats what i thought up until my x1900xt was artifacting on counter strike. went back to nvidia asap and stuck with cards that ran cool.

i know i was planing on getting that BUT a 920 is 60$ cheeper and im only gunna OC it to 3GHz im not a big OC kinda guy so why waste cash

hey, its your money, if you want to buy an ATi then you have every right to do so, they make good cards, i've just had bad luck with them.
 
i decided that at this time i am NOT gunna buy this stuff :\ i will in a few months but at this time i have decided on getting a corsair 850 watt psu and a brand new shinny 4890 :D and i will be uping my CPU for a temp boost as i only got a 4400+ and its SUCKS so atm im gonna up it to a AMD Athlon X2 7750 Black Edition 2.7GHz and im gunna up it to 3.GHz and that will last me the 6ish months tell i get more cash and thanks guys for all the help :D sorry i semi-wasted your time
