I need help on finding a new video card

The thing is guys.
How do you know that he has PCI-E 1.0 or 2.0?

First things first you will have to find out what type of interface slots you have on your motherboard. Here you can find out what type you have, you'll have to open your case up.

Then you have to find out what how much money you want to spend and how strong is your power supply unit or commonly known as PSU. If your PSU isn't strong enough your PSU can literally die or explode with smoke frying your components permanently. Amps are more important than wattage in a PSU.

Then pick your card from the price range you have and what your PSU can handle and install it and the drivers and have a good time!

ya, make sure you know what kind of pci slot you have. i foolishly ordered a GTX 280, but failed to realize that my pci-e slot was an x16 1.0.

lets just say, $200 later, i'm all set.

You can still use the GTX 280 in your PCI-E 1.0 slot, just the bandwidth won't be the same.
