Was it a good idea? I think cutting their hair was a step in the right direction,leaving the 80s behind.


Oh yeah their entering the rock hall of fame today.

It's hair. I'm not a Metallica fan though I do appreciate the early stuff. Hair has nothing to do with music. I've tried playing guitar with my hair. It didn't go well. We're not talking about Samson here. Watch Some Kind of Monster and tell me hair has anything to do with why they are as odd as they are now. I'd say the money changed them more than the hair.

Well a lot of their "hardcore" fans got their panties in a wad and got all mad over it saying "they've sold out". I really don't care about their hair, I just think they went in the right direction on cutting it.
 
I'm a fan of long hair, being the owner of some. :P But it has nothing to do with why they are a kickass, and always will be kickass, band!
 
well kirk hammet and rob trujillo are kinda ugly as is, i dont think it would effect them

i think they can do whatever the hell they want tho, they are metallica!

They've got a video game of themselves. That is the epitome of selling out. Journey's game was better.

I guess they could have left the long and moshy style.
But as long as they keep doing great music, I'm happy. As I said, it's not the hair that I love in Metallica, but I'm still gonna vote bad :)

Everybody should have hair like that XD... but I guess Metallica can also have it any way they want it *badum-tish* (I'm not a fan of Metallica anyway).
 
I think its good... they were never a good hair band to begin with. I mean to be PERFECTLY honest hair never really had much to do with metal... it was all about kickin ass. And you can kick ass with short hair, iv'e done it

all the riaa crap aside, has anyone listened to 'death magnetic' yet? oh my GOD! it is absolutely AMAZING. i got in a few months ago, and i'm STILL hamming out to it, i know the whole damn thing by heart now! just like ...and justice, haha ... honestly, it's like metallica grew their hair back out and started drinking again. this album will make you forget the horror that was st. anger.
 
The only band I think would care if they cut their hair, is Amon Amarth. I mean, that synchronized headbanging is too epic to give up!

I'll give a great example. *prepares himself for some flames before posting this but*

Michael Jackson has some great music, and is the father of modern pop and music videos as we know (regardless if you like the guy, or his music, he DID start music videos as they are today so thats atleast something you have to agree with). And i will even admit that i like a great many of his songs/videos (read: Thriller) BUT: This guys image?

as far as i'm concerned i'd like to see the guy locked up...

but that doesn't change his music

Well they sold out then. They've been corrupted by money for a long time. the video game example is just that, and example. A timely one at that. I really don't get why their hair even matters. When Metallica fans were complaining about them cutting their hair they were going against exactly what Metallica started out as. Just four guys dressing how they liked and not getting all glitzed up for shows. Hair really doesn't matter.
