First off.. LMFAO @ Lance. Second... I'm not one of those people that will say Metallica sucks now or that they sold out. I will say this though.. I am one of those people that Metallica lost after the black album. Who knows though! This new album may pull me back in if its as hard and raw as people say it is.. (Oh yes.. i love it raw and hard.. That's right. I know what you were thinking You perv...) As far as hair goes.... Who cares honestly? Take Rob Halford for example. Or Kerry King. These fellas have no hair but still rock harder than Metallica.

Nice point, but i till voted that they sold out when they cut their hair, why, because they released LOAD after they cut their hair, so i take the hair cut as a symbol of their sellout.
 
Being a HUGE Metallica fan, I own every album to date and can agree and disagree with some points upon my views.

Cutting the hair nither was bad or good, As Frazer Stated metal isn't about hair; This isn't Alice Cooper or any of those bands this is Metallica, The Gods of Trash Metal; Judis Preist, Ozzy Ousbourn, Black Sabbath, They could cut their hair and still be legends.

Its good that they gave up the old 80's hair look, They arn't the youngsters they used to be.
Metal is about kicking major ass, banging heads and rising absolute hell on earth. (In a good way.)
The hair doesn't play the music, They do.

Metallica are legends, And I agree with most when I say its about rime they entered the Hall of Fame- Among the others they deserve it.


So cutting the hair, isn't really a thing people should make a fuss over-They are a great band.
 
sell out is such a stupid term.
They don't owe anybody anything. who are they selling out to?
themselves? They are Metallica, they were already ugly rich before Reloaded. They didn't need to do it unless they wanted to. Furthermore i like all of metallica's stuff. only one i didn't really care for was S&M
 
+1 to Rellik for bringing Thriller into the debate. I was a dirt rocker listening to Metallica bootlegs, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Rush, and BOC. I thought Van Halen sold out when they added keyboards on 1984. But even I had Thriller.
 
i don't really care how their hair looks, but i kind of associate them cutting their hair with them selling out, I don't really like using that term, but i believe it applies here. i don't mean to be the guy who is like "only their old stuff is good" but I don't like anything past the black album.

When someone says they sold out, i don't think they sold out in the sense they went with "the man." they sold out their sound. listen to and justice for all, then listen to anything after the black album. even better watch some vids from the and justice for all tour then watch more recent stuff. The raw brutishness to james' voice just isn't there anymore.
 
When I see this trailer, I thought that Metallica sold out for good.

But the same for Aerosmith for his rollercoaster and Guitar Hero game, and so many other bands that made their choices.

So I decide to stick only with their music.
