I'm a huge baseball fan. Been a Cubs fan since I was a little kid. First Cubs game was in '84 when I was nine. Folks took me to some Sox games when I was younger just because it was easy and cheap compared to going all the way to Wrigley from the South Suburbs. That being said.....
The Cubs will take the NL Central. It's too good of a team not to especially since the Brewers didn't do anything real to help their pitching staff (sorry cic, it's true) and the Cards didn't do anything to help their team at all. I just hope the Cubs can win ONE playoff game. After a lifetime of losing, you just get used to it as a fan. The Astros did make some good moves and Pudge could really help them off the bench late in games. If there's any NL Central team to make a push for the wild card or even the division this season it's the L'Astros.
NL East should be all Philly. The Mets are a great team on paper, but lets see them make the playoffs. As of right now though, I'd give the division to the Mets and the Wild Card to the Phils. Mets will be out in the first round. My first of two big predicted trades this season comes from the Marlins. Hanley Ramirez will have so many hissy fits about the dress code the team has started and the Marlins got their new ball park approved, so they'll trade him for prospects and a lot of cash. No idea who'll get him though. Obviously it will have to be a team that spends money, needs a real upgrade at short stop and is in contention so that narrows it down to the Red Sox, Cubs, and Angels.
The NL West could be a lot of fun. I like the moves the Giants made a lot. The Dodgers are a better team than last year but you can absolutely count on some injuries to that stellar infield to screw up the middle of the season, if not the playoff race at the end. Let's be honest. The NL West winner will barley be over .500.
The AL East should be a beast. I'm going with the obvious Yankees take the division and Red Sox take the wild card. Don't count on the Devil Rays (I will not call them the Rays) to be that great this season. Last year was young bucks going wild because they didn't know any better. Pressure will take them out of any race this season.
AL West. Angels. I don't really have anything else to say about the AL West. I don't think anybody does.
AL Central is the tightest division, but really it's kind of boring. Four of the five teams have a legitimate shot but I don't think whoever wins it take more than 87 games. My pick is the Twins but the Indians and Tigers might really show up. I think the White Sox will fall apart with Ozzy drama and my second of two big predicted trades will be Kenny getting rid of Mark Buehrle since his no trade is gone this season and a one year option kicks in. If the Brewers do hang around in the division I could see them making a trade for him giving up Prince Fielder. You think Planet Fielder was fat in Milwaukee with all the cheese, fudge, and brats? Wait till he gets into deep dish pizza and italian beef sandwiches.
