Any Recommend Good Free Antivirus?

Recently my antivirus ran out of subscription...and ive gotten tired of wasting my money and renewing the subscription each and eveyr time...does anyone have a free antivirus thats good? if so? link please?

Would have to go with AVG on this one. I think 99% of people will agree. Also try out Hijackthis. Another good tool, but I would still recommend AVG. Better protection than a fair amount of subscription based AV software. My only caveat to this is when you use it, make sure you look at some of the stuff it is trying to block, or thinks is bad software. It could be a driver or something you are trying to install.

Short version: Great protection for free. Keep your eyes peeled, just in case.

Really, any of what seem to be the "big three" for free AV have worked fine, I've used all of them at different times on different PCs: AVG, Avast, and Avira Antivir.

i used to use thee free edition of AVG and its pretty good, i have the internet security edition now and i love it

I would spend the extra money and just get ESET nod32 but avg and avast are good too.

AVG is a joke, marks everything as a virus, completely annoying and useless, plus, uninstalling completely on a 64 bit system is the biggest pain of life (in my experience)

Avast or Avira, either one and you will be more than protected. Avira pulls the best AV detection rate and now comes free with bundled Anti-Spyware, which really even puts it atop Avast.

dont get any antispyware 2008, 2009 stuff, cause thats a trick and gives you the viruses it says are being blocked

i recommend McAfee

I wouldn't really count hijackthis as an AV unless your head is a comprehensive virus database.

Yes, this is very important. Don't get any program you find in an internet ad or anything. Stick with the big (or at least known by someone you trust) names.
