Florida here i come!!!

It seems to me that a lot of members in eGO live in florida. Me and my family are headed to Orlando, staying at universal studios for spring break! Was wondering what parks people recommend most? And if anyone knows any good dinner spots? So far we are gonna chill at the pool and hit up universal and Sea World! I'll be gone for a week and wont be able to play, but will be catching the rays :cool: See y'all in a week!

I wish I could help, I lived in Leesburg [an hr from Orlando] for 20yrs but always ended up hitting Miami or the keys or Ocala for fun. I know some great bbq places like an hr & a half from yer hotel, lol. There is some nifty stuff at the Ripley's museum on I Drive. Can't really think of anything else, never really hung out on Orlando
 
My fiance and I will be taking a cruise out of Florida in a year after our wedding. Maybe I'll have a chance to meet some of y'all then. So far my time there has been limited to about an hour or so on connecting flights in Ft. Lauderdale going to San Juan; my sister lives in PR.

Yeah the Ripley's museum is really cool if you've run out of things to do at the parks. After that there's little I can say haha, I've only been to Orlando a few times.
 
Go to Wonderworks on I Drive. Also Island of Adventures is a sweet place too. Wet and Wild is also on I Drive if you like waterparks :D
 
ok if ur ever near ormand beach theres a great restuarant called "Alfies Resturant" its seafood kind of a family place but its about a hour away from orlando
 
You can't do Florida without hitting Ron Jon's in Cocoa Beach (about an hour south of Orlando with traffic). Also, I'd pass on the Sea World and go to Busch Gardens in Tampa (another hour west of Orlando).... But hey, if you've got the money, go to Sea World AND Busch Gardens.. :D ALSO!!!! You can do the Kennedy Space Center in Cocoa Beach as well... That's something you guys probably will enjoy loads... And also, it is educational (yet fun), and your parents can't say no to something like that. :P
 
MkiZzLe - how old are your kids? I live about an hour from Orlando and I'd be happy to toss some suggestions your way :-)
 
Oh, if you've got a day to spare, deff hit up St Augustine & check out the old fort & city, its really worth it if you've never been before
 
Ok if your going to Florida you must go to the beach or you never went to Florida.
EPCOT is a cool park I go there often.
 
what ever you do, you must go to Blizzard Beach and ride the tallest water slide in the US

Ocala for fun????I've lived in the Ocala area for quite a few years and I haven't found anything fun.

What?!? theres always some great redneck stuff goin on out by Shockley Heights. That or you can hit any of a springs out there for a decent party/camping trip. I'm from just outside S end of Leesburg in the swamp so most of the year we had standing water in the yard, heh. Wasn't much to do outside cep't shoot kudzu at each other outta potato guns, lol :) When I lived there I couldn't wait to get out, but now that I'm in Jax, I really miss that craphole. Anyway, there is always all sorts of crap to get into in ocala if'n ya know the right folks :)

edit: wow, almost forgot, what about the caves? :) there are some drys out there if you're not into diving, but tbh the drys aren't as good, still a blast tho

Dunno if it's longer relevant since you posted it on the 8th, but if you are going to Universal and have the coin, The Hard Rock Cafe is not something that should be missed. The food and service is excellent every time I go.

If there are any small children or if your parent's aren't that fond of thrill-rides, Walt Disney World is another option. Sea World is another family-friendly park to visit, it provides a nice experience, has plenty of show attractions and a couple great thrill-rides and you may learn a thing or two you didn't know before.

Orlando and Kissimmee both have a pantheon of attractions as well as variety for food. You just need to be careful. They don't call these places tourist-traps without cause. Welcome to Florida, pray your wallet doesn't weigh 20 LBS less when you leave.
 
I've lived in Florida all my life. As far as beach quality goes, you need to hit up Siesta Key Beach in Sarasota for the best quality. Also, Busch Gardens and Islands of Adventure are going to be your best bet for amusement parks if you like rollercoasters (Island of Adventure is more water park while Busch Gardens is more animals). Depending on how old your kids are, Disney World is also always a possibility. I can't really help you with Orlando based restaurants considering I've lived south of it all my life. Joe's Crab Shack is always a good place to eat, that and this little Mexican restaurant called El Adobe is pretty good also.
 
epcot/blizard beach/bush gardens and sea world are all great places to go iv been to florida quite a few times now on holiday xD defanitly shuld also cheak out coaco beach! its awsome!
 
Just got back from the trip and now have a chance to respond to some of these posts! We were not traveling outside of Orlando, so most of those recommendations didnt get seen due to our limited transportation =[. The trip was great and thank you all for the suggestions! Also, Trykael - I'm only 15, so i don't have any kids :P
