i would like to download the patch form coh wesite but it comes downloaded as a torrent how do i get it so i can load it on the game it it locks up every time i download it from the game so please help

It looks like you are going to have to read up a little on Torrents. BitTorrent is a P2P (peer-to-peer) protocol, sort of like LimeWire if you are familiar with that program. It is a lot better but A LOT more complex.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent_(protocol)

And here is a good BitTorrent Client: http://www.utorrent.com/

You are going to have to install ?Torrent and open the .torrent File with it. If your ports are forwarded you should have no problems but this can get fairly complicated.

thank you for the help i just was not sure how to get the file un torrent and thank you for the program

eGO doesnt endorse torrents, so you shouldnt be posting anything having to do with them

Really? There is nothing illegal about torrents themselves. In this case, it is being used for a perfectly legal purpose.

Does eGO not endorse torrents or just illegal downloads?

Sites like vmware use torrents to distribute Virtual Machines, etc. You're going to see more torrent downloads for patching so you may wish to formalize your stance on this sooner rather than later.

In this case, the use of a torrent to distribute files is perfectly legal.

Its true that there are illegal uses for torrents, and the discussion of illegal file sharing is against eGO rules.

As Deacon and others are quick to point out, there are plenty of legal ones around. Distributing patch files via a torrent is a common practice these days.

I think the question at hand has been answered, so good luck to you killer4000 :)

Torrents aren't illegal in their most basic form. What eGO has a problem with (I believe, correct me if I'm wrong), is their use with piracy.

In this case, he has a legitimate reason to talk about them.

To OP: You need to download a torrent client (I recommend uTorrent) and open up the .torrent file with it. It will then start to download the file you need. Once it's finished, browse to the folder it downloaded to and run it like normal.

Alternatively, I bet you can find the file directly on FileFront or something if you look hard enough.

and if at last resort, go to a torrent website. if there are multiple options, pick the one with the most seeders (or seeds or S), it will ensure a faster download.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up, Agent. I would never have brought up the illegal use of torrents, but it is a very useful way of distributing legal content. :)
