why doesnt ins have melle

....

Hmm... Well isn't this kind or turning into a CoD and CSS game now... wait a minute, I see where they are going with this. :glare::sleep: Clever.... putting INS together so its a game that has a combination of different parts of other games in it to where players from the other divisions might enjoy it...:drool::sneaky2::biggrin::thumbup:
Maybe I thought into this a bit too much... but just thinking of it makes me kind of all warm inside... :crying::mellow::crying::blink::drool::laugh::huh:

I think it used to have knives, but I agree if it didnt it would be a nice addition

Because using guns as clubs is slightly impractical in most cases, as are knives, and Insurgency is supposed to be realistic. It's an all-out war, you don't need to sneak around; just shoot the guy for crying out loud. Plus it's a game/simulation, so you still don't have all the real problems of blood and guilt >_>

Well even though in modern warfare you won't be sneaking around with just your knife, U.S. Military personal are still given knives as apart of their standard issue gear, and it differs from each branch. For example the Marine Corps issue Kabar Knives, and USAF issue Ontario Knives. But since INS seems to be using standard U.S. Army soldier models, it would only be fair to give them the U.S. Standard issue melee weapon, which is the Buck M9 bayonet. But like someone said before, melee is being tested in Beta 3.

I was in the army for a long time and was never issued a bayonet. If I wanted a knife, and thought it had its uses....I had to buy it myself. BTW: The models are of United States Marine Corps Desert Digi uniforms, not the US Army ACU (Advanced Combat Uniform)

Yes, they have knives, but it was decided for Beta 2.1 to take out the knives because they felt that in modern warfare, no one ever uses a knife. It was there, that's why your primary weapon is 1, your sidearm is 2, and grenades are 4 and 5. 3 was the knife, but to have it work like a real knife, it wasn't something that would instantly kill the other guy, usually, so it was more of a way to walk up to your enemy, annoy them, and then have them turn around and kill you.

Not trying to argue, but as a game discussion, knives still wouldn't really work from what I hear. Sounds like the vast majority of modern knife uses are for utility purposes, not as weapons. And in reality (therefore for gameplay purposes), unless the knifer goes completely berserk, the knifee can usually at least take the knifer with him. Bullets are significantly more, erm, annoying.

I prefer the game without the knife, though I wouldn't mind a bayonet option (I miss the bayonet for my K98k in DoD). Considering that the game gives you ammo restocking points, you shouldn't ever have a need for melee attacks.

Yea, no need for knives I don't want this turning into CS:S, like Herm said they don't use combat knives and there are ammo stocking points everywhere

THEY NEED BRASS KNUCKLES AND KNIVES AND BAYONETS AND JUDO KICKS AND LAZER SWORDS AND EEEVVVVEEEEERRRRRYYYYTTTTHHHHIIIINNNNNGGGGGG! lol :D

I stand corrected than, thanks. =]

Chuck Norris would bring a knife to a gun fight, and win. lol. But to be honest, you are right, I would think they would be used more for utility purposes than actual combat purposes, but I would still like one in INS.

Maybe they could add weapon melee, like pistol whipping or hitting people with the butt of an AK-47, but it wouldn't kill you obviously, maybe disorient you or something, kind of like really getting hit in the face with a gun, lol.

a knife is useful if you dont want to make a lot of noise killing somebody in the game. in real life i dont think a knife would be very helpful just ask big herm. but in the game when you are near one of the objectives and dont want to be heard a knife would be great

LOL,not really,some people are such a pro player,they know you're there without hearing you. . .

they had issues with people using the knife to move objects, to boost places and block places...
