why doesnt ins have melle

Nono,what i mean is,i was camping behind a door,and i swear no one knew i was there,so i was playing around,next thing i knew,boom,i'm dead,yea.

behind a door? sometimes your shadow will appear on the outside of a wall. its really helpful

I think it is because, in modern combat like in iraq or afghanistan right now there are rarely any knife kills Its so hard to sneak up and actually do it in real life. I guess if there was a delta class then he should have the knife option just like the sargeant has more gear than the regular grunt.

That "smacking people to disorient them" suggestion was interesting. Still not extremely realistic (like I said, why use a club when you have bullets?), but it'd be kind of funny if you could smack people and they'd get the effect like they do when there are bullets flying around them for a few seconds. It could actually be useful for killing snipers if you could knock them off things or something. I don't know why, but this seems to make more sense than a knife to me (I guess because as mentioned knives aren't usually issued, but most soldiers have guns ;)).

Well even though in modern warfare you won't be sneaking around with just your knife, U.S. Military personal are still given knives as apart of their standard issue gear, and it differs from each branch. For example the Marine Corps issue Kabar Knives, and USAF issue Ontario Knives. But since INS seems to be using standard U.S. Army soldier models, it would only be fair to give them the U.S. Standard issue melee weapon, which is the Buck M9 bayonet. But like someone said before, melee is being tested in Beta 3.

A friend of mine just joined the marines and he wasn't issued a kabar. He said he had to go buy one himself.

Regarding Big Herm's comment...

My father who is US ARMY aswell (for 20+ years now) does not have a bayonet, nor does he have an E-Tool. He has what is called "parade gear" there are a bunch of different load outs depending on your MOS. Seeing as how he is a combat medic, he doesn't need that stuff.

They should make Rambo class. Runs around with a huge bow and shanks people with a Bowie knife. No guns.

haha but i usally rambo more often than not forget the team. if you trazel with to big of a group your going to get noticed so go the opposite way of everybody else because most of the other guys will be focusing on your teammate and always let someone else go in before you just incase there are people there

realism. as an infantryman in the modern day army, we are not issued knives anymore. our melee device is called GFT (ground fighting tactics or combatives) they teach us how to take down an enemy, dominate him, and kill him or subdue him until help can arrive. i believe it has been used just a handful of times in the OIF and OEF campaigns. but what we need to ask ourselves is why isnt there any quick hand to hand contact allowed with free hands when you are touching an opponent? or how can my player be run for a few hundred meters with a solid 60 lbs of gear on him in 130 + heat and not puke?! all in all i think the creators of ins did an outstanding job for a free game with the realism factor. they should add an M240B machine gun though and make the M9 available only to team leaders, machine gunners, and snipers.

I said the same thing to capy about the M240B its a excellent weapon to fire. Would they have the tri-pod there as well? Trying to run with it would be, well impossible.

Personally I think they should just have melee with the weapon in hand run up hit the enemy with the butt of your weapon like in call of duty 2 or 3 and i think in WAW you can do that not sure though.

Hope the knife is better than the first version back in the first beta version. Man you had to knife someone like 10 times with that freakin sword. Also, the sniper needs claymores to be able to protect his/her back.

lol, yeah they should have claymores if they were actual snipers. But the "snipers" in INS aren't actual snipers. They don't crawl for days on end in a guile suit.

And throw all the stuff INS is suppose to stand for out the window. The game is based on team work instead of ramboing.

I'm sorry this is going back a ways but, bravo you can't take anything like that serious. I mean, when I put  I'm seriously laughing. As in a joke. Maybe, my sarcasm is not as obvious as I thought..

And jedi, the marksman should have a big huge guile suit and not be able to move unless he's in prone! That way when you're running around haditha you're absolutely useless and no one freaks out about the marksman!<--- hmm...

Lol yeah, but that would make it impossible to find snipers, which I am all for
