ok i have an e8400 processor and Gigabyte motherboard and ATI 4850. My pc just keeps shutting down someone said it is either my graphics card or my processor and i cant figure it out wats wrong. Someone else said maybe its my heatsink i have just watever they gave me. What could it be? and do u know how i can figure that out?

Oh, for a second I thought a new version of the Sasser worm was out lol

Mine kept doing that to before it died, turned out it was the CPU failing, might want to run memtest86 and see if there are any errors, might be as simple as a stick of ram going out.

I agree with these guys. It's probably something to do with the CPU. You might also check and see if the CPU fan is working. If the CPU fan fails, most motherboards won't let you boot to Windows.

I think it could be an overheating issue with your processor. you might wanna check to see if you need to clean out your pc.

Another questions, What power supply do you have? It could possibly be your psu failing as well.

Does it boot up to windows and run for a while before shutting down or does it shut down before it even boots windows?

it shuts down in the middle of playing cod4 and my fan is working but it doesnt go very fast woudl you guys say i need a new heatsink?? and if i do could u suggest a good one price isnt a problem

Definitely sounds like a heat issue if it's shutting down in game. What kind of temperatures are you running at in game?

ok i will get rid of the dust and see wat happens but someone else told me it could b your video card and cant figure out which one it is?

Doubt its the Vid card, But you could RMA it and see when they finally send one back to you. But clean out the dust and see what it does, if it still does it then look at RAM then the CPU.
