Graphics Card Advice

Are you going to use that video card for your whole life? Think how good a 8800 GTX was in 2007 now a 9800 GT almost beats it. Anyways Visiontek AND XFX have lifetime warranties for ATI video cards. I suggest get a HD 4870 and overclock it yourself (HD 4890 is a OC'ed HD 4870) or only if you have 1 PCI-E slot get the HD 4850 X2.
Make sure you have around 600W with good amperage laying around.

Err, Moore's Law states that number of transistors in a component (CPU for example) will roughly double every 18 (I think) months...

~Gooda~

Yes, which when applied to video cards and the tech industry goal as a whole means your video card's power will be doubled within about 2 years. There are transistors in video cards, and Moore's Law applies just the same.

Yes well for the last 10-14 years transistors have been doubling but with the technology slowing down as we reach the limit of the ability of silicon based CPU's now instead of doubling they are going at a rate of 1.5 times as many every 2 years, so there is a slow down that is coming in about 10 years we would have reach the limit of silicon CPUs.

Maybe sooner who knows, google it if you don't believe me =). So the moral is don't expect double the power in 2 years.

http://www.karbosguide.com/books/pcarchitecture/chapter09.htm this might explain what i mean although its all based off of mostly theory.
