I am posting some Tips i found useful the last two weeks when it comes to playing spy. Aside from watching the videos here are some tips i have found that elevated my game and got me positive K/D ratios as spy on a regular bases.

Tip#1
Dont take on SG's as a new spy. This may be tempting as its what spys are suppose to be used for but dont try this as a new spy.
Tip #2
Go for BackStabs. Find an area of whatever map you play and stick to that area. Practise getting behind the enemy in that specfic area. get to know enemys routes through that area and where the best places are to hide in that area so they dont hit you as your going by them.
Tip#3
Cloack way before you think you need too. i see alot of newbie spys get cought just after they cloack. If they would have only cloacked a second before they did, then they wouldnt have gotten noticed and could have got thier Back Stab they were looking for.
Tip#4
Snipers make the best prey. Snipers are the easiest targets for spys. Go after them when your first starting out. you will get to heavy medic combos in due time.
Tip#5
Get in and Get out. Make just a few good attempts at back stabs and then leave the area your in as fast as you can. Everyone notices when a spy is around. Either from the kill board( top right) or the spy sound you hear when a spy is nearby. Spys are meant to get quick easy kills right near the front lines. Not way in the back by all the SG's and spawn points.

Hope these tips help some of you new spys. Also feel free to comment on any of these you think i may be wrong on.

Just another tip, You cannot run through the enemy team members even if your disguised, most players know this and will immediately call you out. You also cant go through SG, Dispenser and teles.

As a new spy, stay away from pyros at all costs.

When in the mist of enemies, make sure and keep your cool and wait for the right time to strike...it is very tempting to take the heavy out and run away, practice blending in and then strike.

Although I feel that your disguises only get you so far, you need to know how to use them properly. What I mean by this is that know what disguise goes where on the battle field, its like saying that an engi or a sniper will not be upfront next to a heavy, that would be a dead give away to anyone that you are a spy.

Watch the animation of your guy in the corner, when he is completely invisible, that means you are good to go. Always check before you go around the corner that you are not only half cloaked.

It is also good to watch this when you are getting behind enemy lines, it will tell you if you become visible for a sec because of a stray bullet or something.

I would also like to add that you should always be looking for ammo while you are cloaked, usually you can pick up a dead heavy's sasha, or a flamethrower and buy yourself some valuable extra cloak time. Remember also that it is possible to get ammo from an enemy dispenser while cloaked, just be careful of enemies trying to use the same dispenser lol.

I'm not an expert spy but what I've learned is don't let medics on your team heal you before you go out. You got all these colorful crosses coming off you that are colored for your team. Same with dispensers.

another tip

If there are already 2 spies, it would not make anysense to have 3.

Spies have very low stamina and have standard speed, making them easy prey to scouts since they run around.

But the reason why being another spy is because once those two spies cause havoc, most enemies will constantly be worrying about spies, making your percentage of having a backstab lower than 60% (did the math...somehow)

I found this helpful, perhaps you guys can use it. I did not make this vid, but for any spy who is new to the class watch carfully at all the info here it will help you in the future. Ofcourse a few things have changed since the update, but its pretty much all the same.

Good tips, another tips is to be careful when you go up small stairs and stuff, if you're cloaked you will easily get noticed if you walk right into an enemy, and if you're disguised, the enemy will probably spy-check you.

I have experienced me (cloaked) walking into an enemy spy (cloaked), and thats pretty weird :P

Use friendly disguises, they are useful. Toss on a friendly pyro costume coming out of spawn. Enemy spies who are watching your spawn will think you're a pyro, and probably just avoid you. You can have the same effect on other classes as well, and this is a way to get to the front lines without using cloak, and without raising suspicion that a spy is around. Once you want to get behind some enemies, throw on a disguise of their color.
