Mouse Report Rate

I have a Logitech G5 mouse, and in Setpoint it allows you to change the mouse report rate. Im curious what everybody else has this set to, and if it makes any difference. I have some mild mouse issues in game (dpi settings randomly changing, mouse feeling to "loose") and im just curious what exactly this setting does.

How often the mouse tells the computer where it is. I have it set to 1000Hz, the highest my mouse offers. 1000Hz = 1000 times a second or 1ms lag.
