New Jail Map

Hello all, I consider myself a bit of a budding map-maker and I used to know my way around hammer for cs 1.6

Anyway - I'm just getting used to hammer 4 and would like to try my hand at a jail map...what I would really like to get from you guys is some input as to requests/suggestions/advice about rooms to include/avoid e.t.c.

Any and all suggestions are welcome :biggrin:

P.S. yes there will be a disco! I've also got a cctv-esq thing in some parts

Thanks for the offer Louis VI but its not that I'm struggling to work the editor, I just wanted some constructive input on map layout / features that was all

Doesn't the basketball usually use the bomb as a ball?

I was thinking of having the usual gun or two in cell, but in a destroyable pillow on the bed?
I had also contemplated putting a flashbang in one cell...

Flashbangs are disabled, so you cant use it anyways

You can use a pistol as a ball though, doesnt really matter

make sure that the spaces aren't too tight hate being cramped

1 cell should defiantly have a wall that you have to crunch down and break which leads to maybe vents or something. I am not sure how you would make it but uh, I was playing on a jail map which had something just like what I am saying.

Yeah I know how to do that, wanted to try a more original entry to vents though, will get back to you on that.

Huh? Just a quick qu, how do you make ice skating? I'm guessing its by changing the material or something along those lines...oh well I'll fiddle around and work it out

been forever since i worked on a map, think last time i did was for q2 for homer simpson ctf lol. but just noticed on alcatraz that they have one, it basically makes everyone float around and stuff, meranda loves it.

try adding stuff or having an environment not usually used in most jail maps, like a snow jail. I'm all up for new ideas in a jail map

I'm right on the same lines there pureblood, I actually worked out how to get falling snow recently so I'm now making an arctic jail!

I also briefly contemplated a hall of mirrors but then thought of poor slow computers dying a painful rendering death

I think just to be different we'll have an ice hockey rink in place of the normal football field?

Can you have different kinds of Weapons, instead of the Scout, Awp, M4, Mp, Shotguns... Use different stuff instead of same old same old.

Make it like a Water World or something like that, or Space World...

Try not to make the map too easy for the terrorists with too many vents and secrets though.

Thanks for the input, I've actually been working on a few "proof of concept" maps in building up to this 1, I've made a bouncy castle and I'm trying to get a ice rink working

I'm not sure about the weapon choices though...I quite like m4's myself, oh well we'll see!
