Intel Core I7 920 Quad Core vs AMD Phenom II X4 810 Quad

Something that I've run across in my hoping to build a new system, is look at RAM cause that might make or break your decision. By that I mean, the Core i7 Mother boards do offer Triple channel ram feature, but the AMD Phenom II do not from what I've been looking at. Or at least none of the Asus or Gigabyte boards do. If you find one that does let me know, I'm a hardcore AMD fan.
Also, Be awaware that Windows 7 is coming in August/September. That might put your system building back a bit. I'm waiting for it to hit myself before I make my new box.

Hi guys. I'm looking to build a new Pc and here i'm stuck with a choice to make. Intel or AMD . As a gamers and as a professional photographer, I Need power to run my fav games and programs like Adobe Lightroom 2, Photoshop CS4...and as we all know, Windows 7 is comming this winter and I'd like a system that will be able to handle it. What would be your choice and for why ?? My budget is around 1400-1600$.

Well I have a Corei7 920, so I'm going to try not to be byist.
So If you are beating yourself because you can't decide, here is what you must do.... Flip a coin :O
Your aren't going to notice THAT big of a performance difference between a Corei7 920 system and a Phenom II system, but the i7 system will still have a but if an edge on the Phenom II machine. With that budget, I'd go i7 because you have enough for it, OR you could get the Phenom system and use the saved money to get yourself a better monitor or video card (ect...)

Personally what have you had the best experience with? Me myself i love AMD simply because its cheaper and never failed me, but Intel has never failed me either. However i just fell in love with AMD my preferred system brands for various components is AMD, Corsair, Gigabyte/Asus, EVGA, Maxtor/Western Digital. That combo of stuff has never ever failed me. Never failed a build i built for friends etc. Guess i'v been lucky. Only had 1 bad Hard drive in years of building. Lucky me =)

I knew something was missing. Something that makes or breaks this deal with this budget is what sort of monitor he has/wants. As an editor you want a high quality 24" screen at lowest which automatically bumps your price up $300. This just makes me think you should go for the Phenom II and take the slight performance hit from the loss of i7 and RAM channels.

Otherwise if you have a good monitor already then maybe the i7 will fit the budget right. Your choice.
