Valve need to go after these people legally and sue them till they are too poor to breathe.

it does still happen sometimes even if you are incredibly secret with it. but ussally it does help to keep an eye on what you doing and who is around you.

Hopefully the guys at Steam/Valve know about this "new way" of scam.

Because if you JUST HAVE TO JOIN A GROUP to get pwnd...Ouch.

Be careful guys, be careful.

Phishing is not new my friend.

simply joining a group, or even clicking a web link will not steal your info (unless you have viruses/spyware as well)

What is happening is people are thinking they are entering information into a steam website, and then getting phished.

so yeah. phishing is not new.

I'm sorry if you got tricked, really i am. But lets not start untrue paranoia. Joining a steam group can NOT steal your info. Being in a steam group can NOT steal your info.

i say if someone tries to add you, just ignore them unless you played with them ingame or know them from forums :) safer that way too. :)

I am not trying to hurt nobody feelings but

really you are that dumb to go to a .tk site and actually give out your information to somebody you don't know who they are? Hey yet alone it isn't a steam site? www.steampowered.com is steams real site. Nothing else is steams site. I am serious... people need to use there head and really think the crap through... jeez

Yes that site is legit and fine... it is really there site...

People need to be safe with their information, not just on Steam. Having your Steam account hijacked is (in my mind) much less worse than having someone steal your identity. So if you have been phished, I guess it's a good learning experience? A good slogan to keep in mind (doesn't nessarily deal with phishing):

If it's to good to be true, then it probably is.

I was going to add that.

Again, being in a steam group or simply adding someone to your friends list CANNOT steal your information.

www.steamcommunity.com
www.steampowered.com

The only legit steam websites out there! Don't enter your information anywhere else! PERIOD.
