FTA : Malware hunters at Symantec have discovered a direct link between a malicious file embedded in pirated copies of Apple?s iWork 09 software and what appears to be the first Mac OS X botnet launching denial-of-service attacks.

I'm not trying to hate on macs, just seemed like the macbook thread was getting popular and wanted to put this out there.

Also a good read about security for browsers (safari, ie, firefox)

About time.

The only reason Mac claimed their computers didn't get viruses is because not enough people owned them.

As a programmer writing some malicious code: Infect 1000 Macs or MILLIONS of PCs?

No brainer there.

Enjoy stardom, Apple.

Hope your anti virus is as flashy and overpriced as your computers are.

Did u read the hole post of An_Idiot_Blooming??? or just the 1000 vs million??:confused1:

Yes I Did Read the WHOLE post, im not triyng to hate on pcs im just stating, that macs have less viruses... had nothing to do about his post.

My point is that you are starting to see viruses for Macs and with the invent of one, there will be more. If you think it's going to stop at a 'couple', you are incorrect.

You will need anti virus from now on.

It will probably cost more just like everything else Mac related.

Without starting a Mac vs PC thread... Macs use the same hardware now, there's no excuse for the price hike versus a PC.

oprah the reason macs dont have many viruses is because macs are not worth the time, nor the money, quite frankly.

I have anti-virus software already, and im not worried about any viruses, if i ever get a virus its covered under my warranty and all i have to do is schedule and appointment at the apple store or i can schedule a appointment at my house. I don't remember this Post being about price...either so im not even going to comment on that.

Thats your opinion and your entitled to it, i am not a hard-core gamer, i do Video and photo editing as well as web-design and macs are perfect for what i need them to do, they also allow me to play CS:S and the sims 2 so that's the only games i need. i have two macs and they were worth every penny, when i had a pc it would take almost triple the time to start up and it would freeze all the time and have errors, and it had almost the same specs as my mac, so in my opinion PCs are the waste of time, and are not worth anything to me. Thats my opinion and as i stated before in my other posts your not going to change it. I also am not computer illiterate I Have A+ and Network + certifications and know how to use/fix PCs and Macs, I even still have the pc i built when i was 14, it has windows xp and was top of the line and it still froze....

Heres my Mac's Spec's

im happy i dont have to worry about that because instead of spending the extra few hundred dollars on a mac, i can get away with spending 60 bucks on top of the line antivirus. mac users will figure out they have to buy antivirus as well because setting up appointments for people to quarantine your computer is not a realistic solution when all macs are getting viruses.

I will applaud macs for beginning to become part of the market tho, or else this virus wouldnt have been created.

on the flip side, i give the entire world a big /facepalm for the growing number of computer-illiterate persons buying such machines.

im reading between the lines that you arent a computer wiz, you are also an artist. in that case, spend all the money you want on your macs, but i will stick with the machine i built which i guarantee is more powerful than any mac out and also less expensive than half of the macs on the market.

i do respect your opinion tho, do not get me wrong, macs have things that pc's do not, but please remind yourself this is a gaming clan. thus most of the members will be pc users.

cost 2,000 On craigslist, new

and my Macbook pro was 1750 on craigslist again new, until the keyboard broke then apple gave me a new computer, so

yes i read through that. I will tell you that if you spend the time making a PC like i have you will be able to do your digital artwork faster and more efficiently.
this is, in a way, my point of this while conversation.
