I will applaud macs for beginning to become part of the market tho, or else this virus wouldnt have been created.

on the flip side, i give the entire world a big /facepalm for the growing number of computer-illiterate persons buying such machines.

Hold up there, bob... Just as we don't allow the disrespect of players and forum members, we also do not allow any kind of country bashing (or promoting, I might add), either. Whatever your opinions of America, or other countries, I would ask you to please keep it to yourself, or take it to another forum.

Simple solution: Don't pirate software. If those people had bought legitimate copies of iWork 09, they would have never gotten infected.

So ? Ex. :

1000 macs = 10viruses -> 1virus per 100 macs
10000PCs = 100viruses -> 1 virus per 100PCs

In comparison there won't much of a difference

you are missing the entire point of this thread. please read through it again and realize that "piracy" has nothing to do with this arguement.

the point of this thread is that there are viruses out for macs now. who cares how they are transferred.

and on a side note your solution is unrealistic.

Macs are made for a different end user then PCs.

Macs are made to be more stable and user friendly and thus why they run "faster" and don't freeze/crash as often. Honestly, I've never heard of a person build a computer and put a Mac on it which puts them in the same league as consoles: They don't have such a variety in hardware supporting the software which makes testing so much easier.

PCs, specifically Windows (and especially Linux), are more advanced in their need for proper configuration. The fact that you couldn't configure Win XP to run as smoothly as a Mac is beyond me. I have been running the same Vista enterprise installation on my work PC since its release and I have never had to reinstall and it has always run as smoothly as any Mac I have ever used.

As for price: The same MacBook pro that I bought a friend for their birthday cost almost twice as much as my gaming PC (Obviously lappy v desktop is a bad comparison but it's still valid) and it had roughly the same specs as my working laptop (but $1000 more expensive) while the gaming comp had better RAM, a quad core v a dual core, a 9800GTX x2 SLI v 9600M, and a 320GB HD versus a 2 1TB HDs.

Also, about viruses: Read comments on torrents before downloading and if you can, download from a private tracker. I do regular scans (but I don't run a anti-virus in the background) and I have yet to get a virus.
 
I like macbooks and iMacs for video and audio transcoding and the like..

But when it comes down to usability and customization the PC is KING no doubt.

I like being able to evolve my machine over the years.. and i just cant see paying 1,000 extra dollars for the same exact computer but with a warranty and genius bar (I buy from newegg so most of my stuff is covered anyway).

yeah, i thought I qualified the statement by first saying that it applied to me.

It is hard to country bash when you are making fun of yourself. It is like calling myself obese and someone yelling at me for it.
 
I have a simple solution don't pirate software, i noticed in the "post your desktop" thread that over half of the computers have a Bittorrent on their desktop, that's how viruses spread on both macs and pcs.

How else am I suppose to get my TV show that CBS and CW don't put on Hulu or their own websites. Also how else am I suppose to watch Bleach and 7 Ghosts before it reaches the US. Get a good anti-virus and then stay off of porn sites.

All of you. ALL of you are members of Edge Gamers, bashing one another is not what we do here.

We also do not support piracy, so again do not talk about torrenting for illegal purposes.

I see anything like this again in our forums; I promise you, it'll be more than just a post and a lock and I keep my promises...

This isnt CSS Jail Break, I shouldn't need to have to warden this forum, you guys should be doing it yourselves as that is why we accepted you into eGO.
