OK, so before we begin, I just want to say that all and any comments are appreciated. Suggestions are helpful and appreciated.

Basic Manners
  • Sniping spots are first come, first serve.
  • If someone else is in a spot that you want to use, either ask them to move or find a new spot
  • If you are sharing a sniping spot with someone, DON'T NEVER EVER get inside their scope. It's just plain annoying.
  • If you see an enemy sniper, warn other snipers on your team
  • Save friendly snipers from enemies if possible
  • Move around. Not only does it make it harder for the enemy to guess where you are, you are also giving another sniper a spot, which is a nice thing to do.
  • If you've been in a spot for a while, and think that other snipers want to use it, go find another spot.
  • Don't go to some other sniper's spot and ruin it for him if you can help it.

Advanced Etiquette
  • Ask if anyone wants to use your spot
  • Don't take a dead sniper's spot
  • Move if you're in a good spot, but a better sniper needs it
  • Think about others, share the kills.
  • If another sniper needs help, don't hesitate to help him/her
  • Ask if you're blocking anyone
  • Don't kill someone whose about to be backstabbed by a friendly spy

Well that's all for now, please tell me what you think and give suggestions if you can think of them.

You should also try and be a credit to your team. If there's a really easy, say, demoman kill, but he's not doing anything, and there's a heavy terrorizing your team, then you should help out and try and kill the heavy, rather than go for the easy points.

But good list, really nice.

And here is another good one: if there are 5 snipers on your team, switch class. :)
And another very important one: keep your fellow snipers as up to date on spies as humanly possible. Even if you only get out "Sp...yaaaaaahhhhhh *dies*", they'll get the message.

And kill anyone wearing doctor garb. Especially if the end of their invincibility gun is glowing.

Try and support the team ie. covering players retreating or going forward etc
rather than just going for easy kills/headshots

As a sniper the important thing is to take out, crits medic, and heavy, they have the amount of health which is easy to kill. So take them out, heavy move slow so it wouldn't be a problem, medic tend to walk straight forward when they crits so it woundn't be to hard either

doctorjo you got a valid point....but it seems like for the most part you are focusing on ettiquitte of sniping spots....but what you posted is valid :)

This is basic Etiquette for most camping classes. (Engie, Sniper, Demo). If you generally stay within a 20 foot radius you should follow these.

Wow, that is a good guide. I was thinking about some of these things myself. I will work at using them...

Hee. Nice guide. In addition, as a sniper who knows he can hit a moving target with ease or has enough time to try again, take out ubers. Always fun for you, helps the team and frustrates the other team. Also, be like me. If an engy needs assistance and no one else is around, go rambo and kill the threats with the kukri. Works most of the time because people don't expect a sniper to come rushing towards you with bloodlust in their eyes wanting to carve you into pretty pieces. I can teach you in the noble art of going rambo. Add me on Steam for more advice. :D

Pro tip for Heavies: Don't stand in a window blocking a sniper so you can fire your minigun at far targets.

(And here is another good one: if there are 5 snipers on your team, don't complain.)

Fx'd

Do you mean the Snipers shouldn't complain, or the Sniper's team getting rolled, because of them? I think I'm justified to complain if players doesn't look out for the team's best.

Uh... I understand it's giving others an opportunity to get some kills but... first come, first serve? :facewall:

Haha, very true. I've yet to see a successful "sniper rush" xD. Also a lot of times when you have that many snipers, if the map's small enough, two snipers wind up going for the same targets now and then.
