I figure soundcards and what not are mostly tech... I wanna see what you guys are using to play games with, this is my rig, and its got enough bass left in it to shake my room with each footstep in CS:S / accurately reproduce the sheer awesomeness that is Starscream's and Mr.Winter's voices ;D

Yamaha Natural Sound RX-7 Receiver (1986ish)
" Natural Sound Compact Disc Player CDX-510U
2x Bose 301's (Series I, 1979, when Bose was still high priced but somewhat worth it)
2x Audivox speakers (its quadrophonic sound but they're in the rear... so not true surround)
C-Media USB Soundcard (comes with SteelSound 5hV2 gaming headset)
Steelsound5hV2 plugged in to the mic (only use it for the mic the headset itself is broken beyond recognition)

And now for pics b/c I want to make peeps with anything non-vintage totally jealous ;D
(btw that bunny is bunbun, whenever hes not making public apperances as an inside joke / embarassment to me, he is taped to the volume dial so that his hands move when I change the volume w/ the remote. Yes, it has a motorized volume knob Only really old people know how awesome (and how fragile) that is :p!

FLAC files --> Winamp 5.541 --> ESI Juli@ --> Denon DRA-835R --> Infinity Sterling SS2001

note that much of my material is ancient, the denon is from 1993 and the infinity are from 1996. I also have a technics CD player from 1993. occasionally I use some kick awesome radioshack rebranded koss KSC75 or roland RH200.
 
Does it really matter? It's not on the first page of the Tech Talk forum, and it's not exactly what I'd call a busy forum.
 
AC97 (or whatever came with my mobo) sound card...

Headphones: Sennheiser HD280Pro
Mic: Logitech USB
Speaker set 1: Logitech Z-2300 (2.1; THX cert)
Speaker set 2: Logitech Z-5500 (5.1; THX cert; for more epic gamin sessions since I have to take it out of the living room)

;) Sound is important to me.... :)
 
Two speakers for output+one ear mono headset that came with my webcam for input. They both work ok for what I use them for, the headset has separate plugs for input and output so I just use it for the mic, and the speakers sound nice.
 
Nice so far, yeah I used to be a fan of headsets I'd like a nice noise-cancelling pair, but in terms of bass, headsets can't touch a sub woofer (I need to get a good powered dual-channel one since I have no center channel though)

The nice thing about having a receiver though is the fact that I can plug in headsets if I wish (1/8" plug anyways...) but there are times I miss headsets greatly... like when I'm playing at 2 am and my dad comes in and tells me he can't sleep w/ all the gunshots :oops:
 
I bought a good set of headphones because we have a study... and my wife actually studies in there... so I play with headphones on when she is studying and the worst she has to deal with is mouse clicking... and sometimes me laughing... ;)
 
whatever 7.1 came with my mobo, a logitech 5.1 surround speaker system, plantronics stereo headset, and a 5.1 surround razer headset that is a little broken but still works i just use it for great sound when i don't want to rumble the house with the logitech speakers
 
For actual speakers I have a 5.1 Logitech surround sound set with a downfiring subwoofer. Headphones I have the Turtle Beach Ear Force AK-R8 7.1 headphones
 
Z-5500 by logitech w/ x-fi fatal1ty.

z-5500 is something I have never EVER regretted purchasing :)

Depends on what we are talking about.

My computer is running the Logitech Z-5500 which is hooked up to my Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatality.

My television is hooked up to a Yamaha HTR-650. Both systems have 10" woofers and will make the neighbors very mad.
 
Depends on where I am and the computer I am using.

My typical setup is my 5.1 creative setup (8" sub), though I can port to my home theatre with an optical cable (samsung tallboys with a 10" sub)... If I need to be quiet I run my sennheiser headphones, and I use a pair of HP headphones for vent...

Once I get around to building a computer into my car, and hook up the mobile broadband, I'll use the speakers in there... and for anyone that has talked to me, that system is epic...

you run a home studio? that's an awfully expensive setup with a tremendous amount of functionality for just listening and playing video games.
 
Logitech Z680's (what everyone was rocking before the Z5500. THX, DTS, DD PL2, etc.)
