4770 Crossfire Benchmarks (You will be surprised.)

I've been looking to upgrade and spotted the great performance for the price but I'm going to wait until they solve the driver issues. It's always drivers with ATi. We'll see with the 9.5s.

That cheap? That well?
I've got a computer at my other house that needs some new components. I'll consider this...

The most important number in a card review is the minimum frames per second. Not the average, not the maximum. That review fails to provide more information on the performance, for all we know, we could be looking at the peak frames per second, which is the most useless number.

Furthermore, all those games benchmarked have been out for some time, which means CrossFire profiles are available, which means better scaling with two cards, which means better performance compared against a single card. What that 'review' fails to mention is that not all games scale well with CrossFire, in which case you're much better off with a single powerful card like the 4890.

They're also testing at 1280 x 1024 and 1680 x 1050. Which blithering idiot thought CrossFire was needed at that resolution? A GTS 250 or 4850 will cover the lower end of the resolutions without a problem. What they should of done is test at 1920 x 1200, which they did, and 2560 x 1600. That's where CrossFire actually makes a difference.

On top of that, why no mention of the GTX 275? They had their hands on a 4890, 4870 and a GTX 280, yet nothing on a GTX 285. If you're going to include ATI's high-end lineup, you also include nVidia's, otherwise it looks like a half-assed job, which this review is actually.

You guys should look at reviews, especially 'reviews' from TomsHW with a critical eye instead of gawping at senseless numbers.
