Vista....what have I done!?!

I just recently upgraded to Vista, I have SP1 and all the updates. It started out fine, everything was peachy. But now when Im on the internet my broswer (Firefox) will stop loading web pages, but Ill still be on the internet via AIM or some other program. I go to close to browser out of task manager only to find it wont close. After this Firefox crash thing, any other programs will not load up. I am at a loss of what to do, should I just reinstall vista and start over? I have used TweakVI, could that have something to do with the problems?


MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum
AMD Athlon 64 x2 7750 (oc to 3ghz)
4 gigs of PC8500 RAM
Geforce 9800 GTX+

ps is there any evidence of vista destroying or damaging harddrivers?

Hmm. That's odd. Do any other web browsers work right? i.e. Internet Explorer, Safari, Opera
 
They all work correctly until firefox screws up and im resorted to use the other browsers. I just disabled the tweaks that I applied in TweakVI and reinstalled firefox. Hopefully that cures some of my vista woes.

Is there any websites or series of websites that have vista work arounds, tweaks or improvements I should know about?
 
Well, I'm talking to you via Firefox myself, and I run Vista 64. Try uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox.

If that doesn't work, try yelling at your computer for a while. In my experience, it works more often than you'd believe.
 
problem solved. i found out zone alarm was causing all the problems with IE and firefox
 
Mmm. I can see that being the problem. The wrong port, etc. goes down and things start to look chaotic.
