I want to speed up my ram a bit right now i use Corsair Dominator XMS series DDR2 1066 240 pin. But since im runinng a AMD board without a quad core, it automatically downgrades the speed to DDR2 800, can anyone help me out with the timings to make it go faster? Does not need to be at the full advertised speed just a little speed boost would be nice =). This system is a custom build that i bought and built myself. Running a 8800GT 512 with a 750 watt PSU with a 12 volt rail of 60AMPS.

One more thing, is it normal for my GPU to be 116 degree's (F) on idle? I have the fan set to manual 80% at all times. As well as a PCI slot cooler that i have helping cool it.

Mother board -

Manufacturer : Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. (Gigabyte)
Product : GA-MA78G-DS3H

CPU

Processor : AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+
Frequency : 2600 MHz - (current : 2605.57 MHz)
Number of Core : 2
Support : Socket AM2 (940)
Cache L1 : 2 x 128 KB
Cache L2 : 2 x 1024 KB

a frequency of 1066 is only supported by AM2+ boards. otherwise the max you will get is 800.

Or so i have heard, but if its doing the same here, then i would guess thats correct. The board can support AM2+ that means. So either you can 1) Upgrade CPU to an AM2+ or 2) stick with the 800 speed unless there is another way around it.

As with GPU temps, its not bad at all. It depends on what it goes to under load with what you should be worrying about If it goes too high

That fan should be set to 100%... I've never heard of their being a reason (aside from keeping the noise down on an underclocked card) to have it at 80%.
Thats 46C if I'm not mistaken and that is a perfectly acceptable temperature for electronics.
80 CELCIUS is a "worrying" point for both CPUs and GPUs, generally speaking. (It can vary, for instance my Brisbane core can only go up to 65 before it's "unsafe"...)

Anyways, from what I've heard, the top end graphics cards reach like 60-70C under heavy load, and you're not near that mark, so you should be good.

Also you really don't have to worry about your graphics card exploding or damaging itself. If your GPU seriously gets to a point where it is severely shortening its lifespan, you'll know b/c your framerate will drop, you will probably have artifacts on the screen, possible BSODs, and your system will probably reset the display driver at a certain tripping point. In otherwords, don't worry be happy :p
