The Pyro Class

Basic summary of the Pyro Class.
The Pyro class is a class that shoots fire from a flamethrower. The flamethrower makes people catch people on fire. It is an attacking class. He wears a mask unlike the other classes and has one of the scariest taunts in Team Fortress 2. The Pyro has 175 Health.

Class Weapons
The Flamethrower!
The Flamethrower is a flame throwing weapon. It can cause lots of damage to the enemy. The Flamethrower is good for killing many players in one time. With its "burst-effect", meaning it spits out a huge ball of fire when setting the enemy on fire at the beginning may set fire to lots of people. The nearer you get to the enemy, the more damage it does. The Flamethrower is a short range weapon, so be careful of Snipers and Sentries and even more worse, Heavy Weapons Guys!

The shotgun!
The shotgun is the Pyro's secondary weapon. It is a middle ranged weapon. Because the Flamethrower is short ranged, Pyro's can use the shotgun to finish off burning enemies or make an enemy attack you when he is attacking another teammate in your team. This may save your teammate in occasions as the Pyro is a flame fury class.

The Axe!
The Axe is a melee weapon for the Pyro. It does lots of damage to the enemy. The Axe is used to finish off the enemy when he or she is at low health.

The Level 10 Backburner!
With this weapon, it gives the Pyro a big advantage to kill enemies more faster and easily than the normal Level 1 Flamethrower. The Backburner does Critical Damage when an enemy is facing backwards to you. It can instantly kill him or her. This weapon can be unlocked from Pyro Milestone 2 (16 Achievements).

The Level 10 Flare Gun!
Not many people I have seen through various Edge Gamers Organization and many other communities know what potential that the Flare Gun can do. Remember, the Flare gun can kill an UberCharged Heavy Weapons Guy in just 3 shots! The Flare gun is mainly a middle ranged weapon which when you shoot a player, a bullet is shot and it ignites the player. The Flare Gun can also be used long ranged if you can predict the movements of people who are far away in the right time. The Flare Gun can unlocked in Pyro Milestone 1 (10 Achievements).

The Level 10 Axtinguisher!
The Axtinguisher is one of the last Pyro Milestone Achievement unlockables. The Axtinguisher is an axe like the normal Axe but it does Critical Damage when an enemy is on fire. The Axtinguisher is good to finish off players fast.

Fighting other classes.
Scout
The Scout is a pretty annoying class for the Pyro's to attack and kill if you are a beginner. A good player who plays Scout will always run around, jump and run back to spawn. This is when the flare/shotgun is needed. Firstly, set the scout on fire and when he notices and runs, quickly switch to your shotgun and then finish him off. The Scout has 125 health, much less than the Pyro.

Soldier
Soldiers are a hard class to tackle and kill. But really, it's not that hard to tell you. Because of the soldier's slow rockets, you can dodge the area left and right, left and right. Don't attempt to go near to soldiers when they have their rocket launcher on hand. Always get far from a soldier and shot him with your shotgun. In maps with ledges, you should always surprise attack the soldier by jumpin when he is facing back and then finishing him off with an axe.

Heavy Weapons Guy
The Heavy Weapons Guy is a big-time enemy/foe with the Pyro. The Heavy has the most health and is invincible when he is UberCharged. Long ranged or short ranged, the Heavy's weapon always takes critical damage. Weave and zig-zag when shooting him with your shotgun. Always use the tactic to "surprise the enemy" where you jump off ledges and spray Heavies with your primary weapon. If you get contact with him directly, you will be shot and shoved back by the bullets.

Demoman
The Demoman is an easy class for the Pyro to finish off. Because of it's bouncing grenades, you can easily dodge them. Be careful of Sticky Bombs though as they might explode you to hell!

Engineer
The Engineer is yet again a very easy class to take out. Because he has only a shotgun, you can take him out within seconds. Just be careful of his Sentries. His Sentries are wild and can shoot you to death. The Pyro's primary weapon is not a good weapon to outsmart Level 3 Sentries. Level 1s and sometimes 2s can be taken out "no problem baby!"

The Sniper
The Sniper is a "sort of" easy class to finish off. When the Sniper is using his Sniper, always move around and dodge areas. When you are close to him, flame him and finish him off with your axe. Remember, if you get Snipers from behind, you can kill him easily as he is a sitting duck.

The Mmmmedic!
The Medic is another "sort-of" easy class to take out. When he regconizes his enemies and/or when he is alone, always shoot him with your shotgun or Flare Gun. Remember, when the Medic shoots with his unlockable gun, he can attain three health PER BULLET. It's best to stay away from the pro medics.

The Spy!
The Spy is an easy class for the Pyro. The Pyro is a class where he/she can track Spies by just blazing the environment he is in.
Summary from the Author (me)
The Pyro is my most favourite class. Despite him being updated, the class has the skill to kill many players. I strongly support the PYRO!
Thank you for reading my mini guide with the Pyro! If you want me to add more info, please PM me.

I'm sorry to say but this guide isn't that useful. It just gives an overview, it's not really a guide. There are also a few mistakes in there. For example, you can't kill an ?bercharged Heavy with any weapon at all. Also, the Heavy doesn't have a 100% crit chance, as you said in the "Fighting against the Heavy" category.
I guess it probably took you a long time to write this down but I think you should add more stuff and improve some parts of this guide.

The Flaregun can kill an Uber-charged Heavy in three shots? o_O

If you meant overhealed, no, because a Flare Gun shot, even at longest range, does about 45 damage per hit, the burn resets with each hit, each interval of the Flare Gun's shot takes about 2 seconds, and fire does about 6 damage per second and lasts 10 seconds if unperturbed. So, three Flare Guns shots, assuming maximum damage, which is damn near impossible to do on someone who is not AFK, will do around 220 damage. Not enough to even kill a non-overhealed Heavy.

The best way to use the Axetinguisher is in a cramped area, especially against fast dudes like a Scout or Medic and against heavies. Just puff with Flamethrower, knock back with CB, and Axe away.

Good Demomen and Soldiers are very bad news to Pyros because they can juggle you to hell and back, shooting at your feet where you can't CB them. If they're sucky, you can CB and burn them all day. If they're too good for that, only a real good ambush works consistently.

Overall, it's best to think of the Pyro as a slow Scout with extremely good close-up capabilities and extremely specialized roles due to his CB. That means you know when to run, you ambushes to your advantage, and you use your shotgun a lot. Pyros who don't use the shotgun just use the Flare Gun because it's fun or because they rely far too heavily on the Flamethrower/Backburner, and it saddens me to see suicide Pyros everywhere who just don't know what their class is capable of.

Useful Trick (if you have the Axetinguisher only) : Burn an enemy and quick swap to your axetinguisher and hit him! Cya!

P.-S.: BACKBURNER FOR EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

Eh, im weird when it comes to pyro

I play like this guy [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XM0Np_fVX-g[/ame]

That guy is very responsive with the air blast.

With respect to the guide, though, it's good for an overview for new pyros, but... Captain Calle about summed up the rest.

I play like this guy on maps that aren't BM. ): BM does not support the Newman pyro.

Warning. ^ Language.

I think he purposely decides not to use the axetinguisher because it is hilarious.

Sigh... pyro is definitely NOT w+m1. That's a whole myth, anybody w+m1ing a pyro doesn't know how to play him, simple as that.

obviously I'm terrible and have no experience in which to discuss what im talking about

pyro is definitely not a kamikazee class, my bad

Some specific class-killing tactics with my normal pyro equipment (flamethrower, shotgun, axetinguisher)

Sniper - These guys are dangerous at extreme distance and somewhat annoying in close range. Your best tactic is to kill them before they even know you're there. Sneak around them and set them on fire with a quick burst, then switch to axetinguisher and kill with one shot. If you time it right, they're set on fire and killed before they even notice.

If you time it wrong, they'll run around shooting at you with a SMG (and probably die) or charge at you with a kukri and hope for a crit (which happens way too often). If they notice you, just burn them to death with the flamethrower. Many times you can hide nearby out of sight and wait for them to come back, just listen for the sniper gun going off. Usually two kills is the limit for normal snipers before they go off and find a new spot and/or hunt you down.

Sometimes you'll be able to taunt-kill these snipers as most new ones don't move around once they've got a fully-charged scope. Others will drop scope and move as soon as they hear the pyro taunt move starting. They've been traumatized before.

Soldier - Soldiers are dangerous at both distance and in close, they come in two kinds, smart and stupid. Stupid ones will fire all four rockets at you as quick as they can, reload one rocket at a time, and fire again, repeat. This type will sometimes aim at the floor near you, but usually at you directly or at walls near you. If you're good at the airblast, use it and kill him with his own rockets. If you're not, just dodge, get in close and fry him.

The smart ones will aim near you on the floor, usually in front of you to keep you from reaching them. they will also fire with pauses between each burst to keep you guessing at when they next will be shot. This makes it much harder to deflect the rockets back as they'll be slightly out of range and you can't time the rocket launches. When this type shoots off all four rockets, they usually retreat around a corner and reload one, fire it to keep you back, then try to reload all four. Above all, they try to keep some distance. Your best bet is to retreat and find a good ambush spot where they won't be able to get any distance on you. This will also allow you to deflect rockets back easier as they can't fire at your feet nearly as well. At flamethrower length, the time it takes a fired rocket to reach deflect range is negligible. Just watch for the flash of the rocket being launched and hit the right mouse button ASAP. 4/5 times, it will deflect with no problems. And remember, you can airblast directly from flaming, there is no need to hold off the mouse1 button unless you're low on ammo.

Demo - Most of the time you'll come up against a demo, it'll be after they've trapped an area with stickies. Many of these times, it'll be after they've exploded you after you turn a corner none the wiser. These types of demos should be killed without mercy. Generally speaking, this type can't shoot grenades worth a damn so they're easy to kill once you get past the trapped area.

If you happen to see a demo who is not hiding out, watch what they shoot at you. If they shoot regular grenades at you, then they've got an area nearby stickied, be careful as they probably want to draw you into a trap. Don't follow them around any nearby corners. Demos like this will come back out from behind their trap to try to kill/lure you back. Stay near a corner and set them on fire. Listen for the stickies being detonated and rush around the corner ASAP. Deflect as many grenades as you can and dodge the rest.

If they're shooting stickies at you, then they're an offensive type that just wants to kill you dead. They'll try to keep distance like soldiers, but are much easier to reach. All you need to do is run right at them and jump over their sticky. If it's one or two, you'll be propelled at the demo or behind them, once there, you can burn them to death, just stay in close. At the worst, they'll kill you and take themselves with them. At best the one second lag between firing a sticky and being able to detonate it will keep them from doing any more damage.

If there are more than two stickies there, try to split them up with an airblast so you have one good jumping sticky to use to propel you.

Heavy - These guys are big walking piles of meat. And what does any self-respecting pyro do with meat? Cook it then slice it to serve. Heavies have 300 life by themselves, 450 with a medic overheal (and they usually have medics). If you can surprise a heavy, then set him on fire with a quick blast, them axe him. Two axetinguisher hits for a normal heavy, 3 for an overhealed one. Circle-strafe around these heavies as you axe them, that will keep most of them from killing you. After the heavy dies, kill the medic.

Now what happens when you can't surprise the heavy? If he's in range of the flamethrower and you have a place to run to, set him on fire, then run away. The fire will do another 50 damage over 10 seconds. Repeat that 5 or 6 times and the heavy is toast. Some heavies will run to a health kit after they think you've gone. When you hear that minigun spin down, rush in and axe him to death. If he's out of range, just back off unless it looks like he's a total newbie.

Smart heavy/medic pairs are your arch nemeses. They'll be watching all directions at once and you won't be able to surprise them. What you need to do in this case is wait until they're killing someone else, rush in and kill the medic, then run away. Then kill the heavy after he's separated from his medic. Many times you'll die to this pair, but they can be killed. And you have the benefit of knowing that it takes two people to kill you.

Medic - The anti-pyro. These guys keep extinguishing your wonderul fires and saving lives. Punish them. Really only dangerous if they've got a Blutsauger and know how to use it or are paired with a heavy (see above).

Engineer
- Weak little men who have to rely on toys to kill you. You all know about sentry gun circle strafing, so I won't bore you with that. If the engineer leaves his toys alone, you can kill one by edging up to a corner and frying it at close range or shotgunning it from afar.

Spy - Kill it with fire. Spy check everyone, trust no one.

Scout - Drive-by shooter. They love to run up and unload buckshot into your precious flesh. Set them on fire so even if they retreat, they'll still take damage. While they run away screaming "Foyre! Foyre! Foyre!", shotgun them. Even if they get away, they'll still be on fire and hopefully collapse before they get some health. One second of concentrated flame will kill them with the extra burn damage over the next 10 seconds.

Pyro - If in range of flamethrower, burn them. It takes 3-4 seconds to fry a pyro.

If out of range, shotgun them. It takes about 4-6 shotgun blasts at medium range, 10 or more at long range, and only 2-3 at close range.

When using the flamethrower, try to back around corners as you can hit them, but they won't be able to hit you until they can get around the corner.

If you're low on life, airblast them away and run away while firing the shotgun. You might even beat one if they keep their distance and not use one of their distance weapons.

The Pyro is pretty much the best class for killing a close-by Sentry around a corner. So easy to bend the flame and take it out, even with an engy on it.
