Rainbow Six Vegas 2 CD Key FAIL???

ok, i got my RSV2 cd and key. i enter it to steam then it says its invalid!
heres the key: 1=number A=letter

aa1-aa11-aaaa-aa1a-aa1a

the a's are letters and the 1's are numbers. whats going on here? i tried the dashes, spaces, no spaces, i don't know what to do!:facewall: any help please?
 
Wouldnt this be better in Tech help? Oh and i dunno, maybe ring up the company.
 
yes better in tech help section. But also i would say you have to call the company. Also post any error msgs you get with this. Usually when this happens its give you something like invalid Cd key in use. or something to that nature. Normally if it just says invalid then the cd key is bad and you need to get a new one.

FYI, not all retail based games can sync with steam. If you bought RSV2 from the store, you can not activate it with steam. You must have the install disc.

That is correct. If you have a CD, use that to install the game. It will probably prompt you for the CD key during the installation process. If you want to use the Steam Community Overlay, you can go into your Steam games section and select "Add Non Steam Game." That will let you use Shift-Tab but you won't get automatic updates.
 
Same Thing Happened to me when i bought Half-Life 2, from A store, it didn't work. I returned it and bought it on steam...

Maybe the copy you purchased already had its CD key used. Since Valve produces HL thats the only possible explanation i can give you.
