Can anyone telll me how to rocket jump efficiently? b/c i always do fail ones O.o
i heard u gotta crouch and jump shoot but dunno

youtube is your best bet, shows you which keys to press and when. you can pick it up fairly quickly.

i could explain it in this post, but it's mostly down to timing so you'r best seeing it and then just find an empty server and rocket-jump away.

that's the way i learnt and it's awesome once you've got the hang of it. like everything else its practice, practice, practice.

Learning to aim at small holes overhead is still proving to be difficult for me. Rocket jumping up the grate in 2fort, and into vents like blackmesa or turbine (without a wall on one side), is something I keep trying but it just doesn't work.

yes you need to crouch and jump at the same time, it's like anything else it just takes practice. What helped me was i binded my crouch to shift so i could press it easily.

crouching can improve height, though, right? it seems that way to me when i sticky jump/rocket jump. i could just be timing it differently due to the crouch, i suppose...
You jump higher and receive less self damage if you crouch jump before you shoot the rocket at your feet.

Essentially, the closer the explosion is the center of the character's torso, the more effect the jump will have and the less damage it will inflict. Crouching brings the torso closer, so you jump higher and receive less damage (although you might incur more fall damage in return, depending on where/how you land).

Once you get good at it, you'll just want to travel by rocket jumping. Then you'll realize you cant :(

You usually want to rocket jump for distance right?
Well here is what i do
Step 1). Face the opposite way you want to go
Step 2). Aim your barrel at about 45 degrees from your feet
Step 3). Hold down "S" (or run backwards)
Step 4). Crouch+Jump+Shoot
You should go pretty far with minimal damage...
Practice makes perfect
