My first was a 1985 red Ford Ranger. I got it on my 15th birthday when I got my license. It had no tailgate, so there was just a net going across. My dad didn't want to pay for a bedliner either, so he spray painted the bed black.

1974 Subaru sedan. My dad bought it new. I bought it from him when I was in HS for $400. I joined the Army right after graduation and he sold it on me. A year and a half later I came home on leave after Korea and tracked down the guy he sold it to. Bought it back just to spite him. I blew it up in the middle of Kansas about a year later. Best $400 I ever spent on a car, twice.

Haha true, only had some cracked ribs, a fractured arm, and some cuts from the broken glass. I consider my self VERY lucky

2000 Toyota Corolla (i still own it) I bought it for 3400 1 year ago, and have not had any engine work done!! The most realiable car ever!! Get a corolla...

I've got around 4000, I have been looking at the Corollas and Camrys but still deciding.
I have seen a few listed, but they are WAY too far away from in me (I'm in California)
Their like 50 miles away for a good priced car with low miles which is kinda/sorta worth it
But yeah, I live in the San Diego region and going to Los Angeles for my car is too far lol

Long story short, car ended up off road and become one with a tree.

Carfax is your friend.
I know your budget is limited, but pick something that you can be proud of owning. Something that you actually want to take care of.

My first car was a 1969 Impala, in 1980. Was given to me by my uncle. This car was huge, to get the spare tire out, you had to climb into the trunk to get it, also to retrieve anything that got pushed all the way in. Very powerfull car, I loved that car!!!!
Sorry, not really. there are lots of much older cars that'll last longer (Although admittedly, most Toyotas last long enough for most people if used properly. Just don't expect it to be a kid's inheritance
I'd rather pay more for a car that can take being used improperly lol)

First, and so far, only car is a 2001 Honda Civic. Hand-me-down from my mom but i spent so many hours in that car it felt like it was mine. Your first is always that, your first car. It wont always be the car of your dreams, mine isnt, but it really shouldnt be. Cuz then wat is there to look forward to? Go for something dependable, good mileage/gas mileage and that is in good condition. Ask for a testdrive, or a look under the hood or something that may suggest you know something about cars, and if you do more power to ya, so that the used car salesman doesnt think he can pull a fast one on you. And ya, do Carfax. It's there for a reason. Make sure it's not too expensive or too inexpensive, cuz you never know...you may end up wanting to tune it and try to look up the car in KBB. I see... I also live in California.. lol SoCal(LA area) I suggest you look at those Auto Trader books...They have a ton of cars
My cousin recently bought a honda civic 2002 sedan for $4000 (45000 miles on it) it was like brand new!
