Here's the official call from Council regarding spawn camping on sniper maps:

Admins are not to react when players are killed as they appear in spawn areas of sniper maps. Some amount of spawn killing will occur as players appear in plain view of the enemy because spawn areas are easily accessible by foot and the spawning enemy can be seen from many locations on the map.

Does this apply to the spawn rooms on downhill? People dont spawn in plain sight of anyone, you have to physically be sitting in the room with a grenade or m1 to spawnkill.
 
Until further notice the rule will apply to every map on the sniper server. Have fun!
 
Ah, so i can still Carbine all those allied fools...interesting. I have gotten complaints about it and said:
"I have not been told by an admin to stop, and until I am informed that this is against the rules on this particular server I shall continue to own you. Have a nice day!"
I realize it is annoying, but if you can survive the hail of sniper bullets and get into my spawn, it is my fault for not killing you first.

I heard a lot of people today complaining about camping in general in the sniper server. Maybe having timed text displayed saying 'camping anywhere is allowed - just have fun' or something to that effect?

yeah... It was impossible to enforce to no spawn camping lol...

I just would tell people you can't lay down in spawn!
 
Lol on 4 towers press z as soon as you spawn if you want to live lol. Yes, i know we are not enforcing the spawn camping rule, but don`t be a jerk and camp in the spawn with the carbine. Ok maybe if you are across the map and someone appears in your scope, then ok. But as Viz says don`t go prone in peoples spawn and shoot them before they can move.
 
I camp hard core in only 1 map so this is good news for me. In the rest of maps i move a lot.

airfield map clarification

I believe that there is one map in particular that deserves some more in-depth clarification. That is the airfield map. I have no problem with the other maps. I believe camping and some amount of spawn camping you just have to live with. It is part of the game. However, the airfield map provides a particular method of spawn camping that I believe should be deemed off limits or at the least left to the discretion of the admins. In the airfield map a player can crossover to the opponents side, climb up to the grassy ledge and climb down the upper spawn exit into the spawn area. This makes escape almost impossible from your spawn area. I witnessed this yesterday while playing on the sniper map.

Wow never seen that happen Micron, I would say for sure if they can get down there that would be SPAWN Camping. If you can get into their spawn area by a glitch then that is a problem.

If you have to kill someone in spawn just as they SPAWN or toss nades into a spawn area you CANT get too. I look at that as spawn camping and your a lousy player.

Now there are maps where the spawn is right out in the open accessible to everyone, then that is very hard to control.

What I do is if I am in their spawn area, I let the person get his bearings first. Of course I die alot more then but hey I am giving them a chance to fight back. I have seen others kill four guys while they just spawn, sure enough they have a great score but too me that is cheap.

Alot of our Sniper servers have bad spawn areas so it will be difficult NOT to spawn kill at times, just try your best to give them a chance :)
