After using an OS installation CD, everything worked perfectly fine througout the whole installation sequence.

But when it was done, i came bak after leaving it alone and noticed the screen was in blk/white prompt

so i restarted my computer and nothing popped open, not even my Acer logo screen that says f12 at the bottom.

please guys, hurry and help me if you can, cuz this is a very dramatic time of my life

Well its a huge stretch but your videocard could be shot, but that wouldn't really explain the blinking white cursor.

Other than a problem w/ the video card or display, I can only think that your motherboard (/BIOS) is shoddy...

Really it could be any number of problems but the blinking white cursor perplexes me.
Perhaps try a different video card if you have one (or test your videocard in a different computer)
Otherwise it could just be your motherboard, put your HDD in another computer and see if it'll boot off of that.

The blinking white cursor and the fact that no logo screen comes up tends to make me think your BIOS went kaput, you can read your manual and try to reset the CMOS memory (its either a button or a jumper you have to short)

Does your computer beep when you turn it on? If so, count the number of beeps and look through your manual for the answer.

beeps as in beeping sounds or blinking lights?

The icon that lookslikea can flashes for 20 times and stops...

Inside seems fine, since the fan works alright

He's speaking of the POST (Power On Self Test) process. Most computers will make a short beep once if the POST is completed successfully. This would happen a few moments after you power your computer up. It's usually followed by the logo, or text about the computer depending on the setting.

Have you ever heard this beep? If you have, then are you hearing it now?

//edit: The Cylinder with the LED next to it normally represents hard drive activity.

Were there ever any beeps at start up that you can remember? If not then, you probably still wouldn't hear beeps. It may be that you don't have an internal speaker connected.
