Bought a ATI Radeon 4770

So yesterday i bought a 4770 and I have to say I am quite impressed. I am getting the same if not better frames and details in game (cod4) with this card than my 5 month old 9800gt scc. I cant wait until next month when I can get a power supply and another 4770 for crossfire.

If your looking for a great card for around 100-150 get this card.
 
hey goood. You should get some benchmarks and post them up here. Like an average FPS running different games. and whatnot
 
He just likes to spread around FUD. It's a poor attempt at putting ATi down even though they've been releasing consistently good cards along the HD4xxx range that can handle high resolutions such as 1680 x 1050 or 1920 x 1200 at a price point that's below $100.
 
yes this is true. I wonder if he has an AMD system. That would be ironic
 
I've heard that's a pretty good card in that price range.

As for me, I was an ATi user since I built my first gaming rig (at around age 11, with some help from my father). I had a 9200se, which I thought was amazing at the time XD. I had pretty good performance until I bought the two HD2700 XTs and ran them in Crossfire. I spent $300 on them, and they were as viscous and slow as molasses... Since then, I got a 9800GTX+ OC edition, and I'm fairly happy with that.

I wonder if ATi will be able to win me back when I look for my next card. =P
 
Why do you need a new power supply ? 4770's are very low on power consumption, that's why they don't have an additional PCI-E power plug... They're also used a lot in HTPC's because of their low power consumption that eliminates the need of a bad ass power supply

As of right now I have a 450W Black Widow from ThermalTake I got from best Buy for 50$. I am pretty sure i Will need around 500-550W for crossfire to run without any headaches. Always good to have too much power, but not good to not have enough. So how much do you guys think I'll need (Power Wise)?

I bet you won't be even needing more then 400watt...
 
still the recommended minimum PSU for crossfire or SLI is significantly larger, so i'd say if you're gonna get anything in PSU upgrade, i'd range for a 600W+, you can usually get a 650W for pretty cheap, anything 700+ seems to be heavier on the wallet. If you search around, depending on shipping, $75 should be good for that upgrade

I've got an HD 4650. That's a pretty good card for around 70 bucks, although I can never get over 40 FPS because I have an outdated mobo. and proc. But I have put it in on my friends computer, I get a great frame rate (Around 50-100 fps) :P

4770's are great low power consuming cards, you got yourself a great card for a good price :)

ATI makes good video cards :]
i have have a 4670, and thats pretty good even thought its pretty old it can handle all my games at the highest level :]
 
I've got a HD3870, it's not a 4xxx series but it produces great frame rates. (60-100) Most of the time I'm pushing some serious work from this card : maxed out FPS's, CAD rendering, CS4 suite rendering (Xenophek can testify for how hardcore on a system CS4 is) and anything else I can throw at it and it does great.

I'd love to one day have a system with a 4870 X2 or even a 5xxx series card, but do to my excessive need to express limits ( and my budget) not to mention my non-need for such equipment, it is simply a dream.

This card does require a 6-pin power connector. It's a great card for a budget minded builder. These cards in CrossFire beat out the GTX 280. Remember this card is 40nm and has GDDR5.
